Adelaide have tried without success to recruit Didak several times over the years.

We won't be bothering to do it this year. IMO he's finished.

I get that, But look at how the cards have fallen for both parties right now.

We arent going to draft anyone this year who is going to contibute to a possible top 4 finish.
We have cash to blow now, and Didak will come cheap.
Our window will close back to the old "Re-building" phase come 2015 as all the battle hardened players retire.
We have numbers begging to be culled, theses spots to be filled by whom, or do we just keep on keeping on with the same skill-less shite?
Didak is more likely to return to S.A than most of the more expensive F.A fantasies we dream up.
Toss it up. Aiden Riley/ Brodie Martin or an ageing railroaded Alan Didak?

Please provide me with a list of these 30.5 year olds that we lets go then go on to improve elsewhere.

In this case age only has a baring on the lenght of his contract.
Offer him a 1-2 year lifeline until we regain our draft entitlements.
This as good a cheap bandaid as we are going to get.
Risky yes, But no risk no reward.
Plenty of our draftees spend months on and off of the sidelines also in their first 2 years.

Are you saying we should be in our window now and that will be closed in 2015 when our older players retire? Really?

Yes, going by the past 15 year cycle. Next season is as good as it will be for at least 4 after that.
You really think missing the next 2 drafts(rounds) is going to set us up for 3-5 years time?

O.K so here is a more productive question.

What will it cost us to pick up Didak for 1-2 years?
Going on current team performance, how will it hinder our success?
Where is the big sacrifice?

We might be cashed up, but there's no need to piss it into the wind.

That ageing Didak missed a large slice of the season because his body kept breaking down. If there's any of those Collingwood players that have been delisted that we might give a 1 year contract to it's Jolly as a back-up for Jacobs - but he's breaking down regularly too.

2 Port posters very confident he's going to Port, one claiming he's demanded to be traded only to Port
I demand that there not be a bidding war for my services and I am not interested in getting the best deal for myself.

Sounds legit

I think that if we get in some quality players that have more than a dozen games left in them yes. If your saying we won't be a top 4 side until Dangerfield, Tex, Sloane etc are 28-29 we might as well give up.

Everyone we bring in from now should be in it until that group of players start to slow down at a minimum.

But if your right and next year is it for this generation lets try and do a deal with the marngrook footy show, maybe Carey and Burns for Petrenko?
