Looking pretty likely that Collingwood are going to end up with pick 4 now with Dayne Beams likely going to Brisbane for that pick. Reckon they'll be much more likely than Brisbane to take Wright.
I was thinking the opposite, they are getting Moore with pick 8 and losing a gun Mid, i thought they would look to replace Beams with as good a mid as they can get.

Also they are still front runners for Clark I believe. With Clark and Moore coming in, Beams and Ball going out (and Swan not getting any younger) you'd think they would have to go for the best available mid, or even defender. Their KPD stocks aren't too great at the moment (of course injuries are playing a big part in that).

If Collingwood get pick 4 I would be pretty damn confident in us getting Wright or McCartin, honestly it just keeps getting more likely. Of course so much can still change though, already getting sick of it.

Looking like St K - Petrecca, Melb - Brayshaw, these two seem just about locked in if they both keep the picks, GWS - ??? not sure, Collingwood - Laverde maybe, I dunno. But we'd have to be pretty unlucky for both GWS and Collingwood to take McCartin and Wright.

Whateley also said on 360 he's been told to "take it to the bank" that gws will do what it takes to get pick 1 and take petracca.
I dont think that's as good a news, as i think the saints will take McCartin/Wright at 3 or 4, Melbourne could quite easily screw the pooch by taking one of them too if they get two picks. Very Nervous.

Ahh well that ****s everything up then, hope like hell this doesn't happen. That would be 4 #1 draft picks in a row wouldn't it? If this happens we'd need Melbourne to not get band 1 and Collingwood to end up with Brissys pick you'd think.

Be utterly shocked if the top 5 picks remain as is. I can see the order being completely different at the end of trade week. Frawley compo, beams trade, dangerfield trade, melbourne trading anything and everything. Hard to worry too much about who'll slide until the smoke clears on all that.

Where does your gut tell you we'll be when the dust settles....still at 5/6?

Gee tonight has changed thinking a fair bit.

- Whateley mail usually good and says GWS will end up with Pick 1. Makes sense if they want Petracca as he wont get to 4 aftre the demons have 2 and 3
- Youd think the lions would have to give pick 5 for beams

So do we assume then...
1. GWS - Petracca
2. Melbourne - Brayshaw (roos always been about building the midfield)
3. Melbourne - (On Traded)
4. Saints - ??
5. Pies - ??
6. Dogs - ??

The more I think about it the more I think we try and hit up Melbourne for the Frawley Compo.

They were big in taking Tyson and Pick 9 for Pick 2 last year.
I think we should be talking to them already about seeing what else needs to be given with Pick 6 to get Pick 3.
Whether thats a player they like or whether thats maybe the Higgins Compo pick.
We would then have the pick of McCartin or Wright I believe.

The went back 7 places last year for Tyson.
Would they go back 3 Places this year for a Tutt or Wood or someone of that ilk. Not sure thats enough but have to try.

Nah. No chance

Definitely. I can't see us moving the pick or trading up. You agree TD?

Not sure what to think, who do we try and trade with? How do we get 1 from St Kilda....Would Jones & 5/6 do it? Is that to much? And what do we offer Melbourne to get pick 3, would pick 5/6 and a second round get us the up grade? Is that to much?

I'd love to get my hands on Wright but sometimes think Laverde would fill a spot just as much......

Higgins compo won't get it done and quite simply I believe if pick 6 instead or 5 is our first pick we won't be getting any of McCartin/Wright/Durdin, take your pick of either Lever or Laverde.

I wouldn't be trading up at all. We'll get a ripping kid at pick 5 or 6. Back ourselves to make the right call and develop better than our competitors.

I'd honestly be surprised if too much eventuated. I still fail to see why clubs will throw that much at Frawley but it sounds likely so Melbourne might get another pick. And if Beams goes to Brissy pick 4 will obviously be involved, other than that though I really can't see anything else happening in that top 5, maybe GWS get pick 1 which would be bad for us but still not really expecting it to happen. Best case scenario is Pies get 4 and Melb get nothing and stick with 2. Just take Brayshaw you idiots its a no brainer!

I'd still be happy with Lever or Laverde but the draft could very easily land like this:
1. Petracca
2. Brayshaw
3. McCartin
4. Lever
5. Laverde
6. Wright

Fingers crossed.

There seems to be a lot going on this trade/FA period with some particularly high profile names getting thrown around (Beams, Dangerfield, Clark, Ryder, Frawley etc), yet I honestly don't remember us being so quiet in the lead up about our targets or even commenting on players that may be going. I mean, all we've seen is a few words spoken about Higgins and Minson (as far as I can remember).

Is it possible that we're simply going to stick with the draft this time around? As much as we seem to get linked to names like Jaksch, O'Rourke, Reid etc, I honestly don't know any of them are really what we're looking for.

If we can pick up Wright (I know that's a big IF) and Z. Cordy, as well as filling out our remaining picks with some decent talent, we should be alright IMO.

Having said all that, as much as I'm happy to stick with the draft I would be annoyed if the club hadn't had a word in Carlisle's (or his manager's) ear and let him know we've got lots of bags with dollar signs on them for him.

...and just finally, if we don't pick up Jayden Foster, I'm going to actually cry. I can just see him being one of those ones that if we overlooked him, turning into a gun somewhere else. He's a KPF that lead the goalkicking in the TAC Cup. What more do we want, especially if it's only going to cost a 4th rounder/rookie selection?
Just on Foster
