Had a little read into Touk Miller before the draft and he has an interesting story. His father is African-American and his mother is an Australian marathon runner. Loves his surfing so I'm sure he'll fit it in quickly on the GC.

Picking up two smalls and a ruck/tall forward is a good outcome for the Suns IMO.

Absolutely. Would've loved one more pick in the early thirties for a big bodied mid..Blakely went at #34

Worth mentioning Miller also captained Vic Metro and Calder in 2014. 2 metre Peter would be the most exciting selection of 3. He was predicted to go number 1 at stage through 2014 and it's been a while since the Suns have draft a KPP. Big Red Machine will be ecstatic with having two sauces at either end of the ground.

So my internet finally came back on after half a day (thanks optus), so I haven't been able to look at how things worked out, but my early impression is that we just nailed that draft! Peter Wright at 8 is a huge steal and will keep both our forwards and rucks on their toes. I think Touk Miller at 29 is a great pick, even though I am a little bit disappointed we didn't go for Blakely. I'm still unsure of Garlett at 15, however, especially with Laverde still available. We could have added a bit more height to our midfield, but seeing as though we wanted some line-breaking ability he was best available I guess.

PS Congrats to Caleb Daniel on getting picked up. Goes to show it doesn't matter how big you are as long as you want it enough.

You guys surely have the most enviable contingent of KPP's in the league now. Now that you have 3 potentially elite monster forwards (Lynch, Dixon & Wright) does this open the door for Day to be switched into defence seeing as he has showed the smallest aptitude out of the aforementioned 4 as a forward?

I think he could emulate what Chris Tarrant was able to do later in his career when he switched into defence after largely underperforming as a forward. They are both terrific athletes, and I feel with Day that he just lacks the necessary footy nous that is needed to become an A-grade forward and now with competition for spots heating up he might find that his best bet is to head into the backlines.

I think he would be very hard to shake off from an opposition key forwards perspective with that elite speed off the mark; and I think playing as a negating defender would be a lot more simplistic for a player like him where all he's required to do is keep up with his opponent and get a spoil in.
