I'd much rather rookie Lower than Goodes. Offers much more leadership and a bigger body imo. But just get Kietel and i'll be happy.

Surely we have enough cover? Hunter, Darley, Wood, Hrovat, Grant, Jong, Dickson, even Clay Smith. Thats 8 mature bodied players who only played a handful of games for us last year who will be chomping at the bit to play and are as good or better than Goodes or Greenwood.

When you subtract Cooney, Griff, Higgins and Tutt ... that only leaves 4 players (for cover). I didn't mention Howard or Young either.

Yeah Payne is more likely, maybe Billy Myers or one of those oakleigh mids (Answorth?) later too there's a few that should get a look in I just hope we go and get the best talent we can in the areas we need to improve.

At the moment I've got a good hit rate for drafts and players I like from the 18's so hopefully I can continue my form and then if people want to know who dally is going to pick just look at the TAC Cup players I ramble on about for half a season :p

Bailey Dale
Michael Manteit
Aidan Anderson
Matthew Hammelmann
Daniel Butler
Dan Howe
Lukas Webb
Toby McLean
that list was in my notepad titled underrated, that was from 3 months ago ;) doubt we'd go Anderson in the rookie draft, because he is a small/medium forward heh

Nice to see Michael Mantiet near the top of your list above Webb and
McLean, if it's a real list you must be Simon Dalrymple.

Hunter, Hrovat, Jong are not mature, Clay Smith is coming off the second knee.

I can see a case for each of the arguments. If Bev and the boys think the list can cope being so young and the load is shared with guys who have so far been more fringe players and had limited exposure like Hrovat, Jong, Pruden, Fuller, Hunter, Smith, Darley and Biggs. And kids like Daniel, then no need to keep Goodes and instead you might recruit a more mature Rookie mid who still has potential. I'm ok with that.

Gives these kids opportunities sure. I get that. But we have lost so much in Griffen and Cooney and lesser extent Higgins and Gia.

Then there is what to do with the rest of the rookie draft. We know Pearce is going back on. So another mid. Do we them pick up 1 or 2 KP prospects and there are 4 to 5 I like as players who have potential or do we continue to bring in mids or even go for a ruck.

you can mount a case for each one of those scenarios and you could mount a case not to take the full quota too.

All concidered I think we might go this way now. We should have a KP player developing on the rookie list, but please no one who can't kick or mark. I don't mind kids with young bodies, but I do mind lack of skill and agility.

1. KP
2. Mature Mid (Goodes or someone new)
3. KP
4. Pearce.

If true to form they will pick at least one guy I have not heard of.

What I want this morning:

1) Hartley
2) Eddy
3) Templeton
4) Pearce

Based on who'll be available (in theory)

P5: - Tyler Keitel

P23: - Hugh Beasley

P40: - Errin Wasley-Black

P57: - Daniel Pearce (Whatever)

I do think we need a mature body on the list, and Pearce is getting another shot - I'd like two "project" types with the other two selections but who really knows.

ugh, seeing Carlton with 3 PSD picks, I worry they'll probably take 3 developing talls o_O
Which talls have they taken in recent times? Bootsma, Watson and Wood as a rookie?

Go Carlton, weed out the bad ones for us :p

this is true
they'll probably take Eddy/Hartley

anyway, not long now and I am excited
except if Goodes/Greenwood are one of our first picks called out
then the excitement will quickly switch to rage :p

A few little whispers getting around... The Gold Coast is expected to take Andrew Raines as a rookie and is interested South Australian prospect Josh Glenn, while Billy Gowers has been linked to Carlton and the Brisbane Lions.

Braydon Preuss, a 205cm ruckman from Queensland, could be in the sights of Essendon and North Melbourne, while the late mail has linked Greater Western Sydney to delisted Geelong player Mitch Brown. That might be as a pre-season pick, though, given the Giants have been weighing up whether to activate their PSD selection/s.

Please GWS< take Mitch Brown!

If they take more tall forwards they are one of the dumbest lot going around. They should be in the mix for defenders but I'd expect them to go with midfielders.

Anyone know of any radio stations covering the pre-season and rookie drafts?
