Can you elaborate?

Keeping guys on there for too long, picking up Goodes again etc. Its served us brilliantly in the past so it just makes no sense.

Goodes will not play a game this year, and if he does well its safe to say the team is ****ed and sitting pretty much last.

I don't mind Goodes, set an example for the younger players. We haven't got allot of senior players on the list. Act as a player/mentor/coach

Are we that confident in our key position guys that we couldn't take a punt on a developing KPD/KPF.
Even he is a flop surely a better option than Goodes (and I really like Goodes)?

So we didn't pick up one tall in the rookie draft? We re-rookied a 31 year old bit dumbfounded by that, should have just signed Goodes to Footscray.

Can kind of understand why we've taken Pearce again, but I don't understand why we've taken Goodes again.

Makes no sense at all. We're picking players who we think will be able to contribute. Goodes isn't getting any better.

Edit - On second thoughts, I was being generous. I can't understand why we've taken Pearce again.

I wouldn't have picked either of them but I'd much rather Goodes than Greenwood, especially if there are doubts over Wallis's foot.
Greenwood won't make it at AFL level. Goodes was BoG in the VFL GF and didn't he win the Footscray B&F too?
We know he can at least acquit himself at AFL level, even though he has had some poor games.

Help the kids at Footscray. As harsh as it may be, any young kid playing regular AFL footy (and thus not spending time with Goodes at VFL level) is more successful then him, as simple as that.

I don't mind the Goodes rookie. Good backup for the midfield. Might not be the speculative pick most people want, trying to get another Morris or Boyd but it's good security. A player that doesn't need to learn the ropes and can go in a pinch.

well surprises again and only 1 tall. Interesting only McLaren was selected of the young talls I liked. Need more info on Kelly and Smith, I have no idea about them.

Goodes could join Footscray full-time and still help the young kids. Doesn't need to be taking up a spot on the rookie list.

Two words about our recruiting this year

UNDER WHELMING !!

I seriously cannot believe we retained Goodes as a rookie.
Beveridge has put his neck on the line on Kelly also.
The guy has had 3 years in the system exactly like Hambling - without a game - but we persist with this thought trash will become treasure.

Give young kid 3 years to develop like those blokes and it would be fair to say alot of them would be no worse off in three years !!!!
But there is a fair chance one may develop into a much better player.

Hold onto your hats people 2015 going to be a very very long year !

I've never seen Pearce do anything at any level that warrants playing in the AFL. He reminds me of Sam Power, he would blend in to an under 14's game.

I understand the Goodes selection though. We're close to the youngest team in the league already and Goodes is better, at the moment, then most of our list. Plus he fills that maturity gap for another year. I'm actually ok with that selection.

At times it's hard to tell the difference between the elite(lol) AFL team and the kindergarten at Whitten Oval.

like many here Im just confused.
I assume that the strategy must be that we are planning to trade for our spine rather than do what other clubs in a similar list development phase to us are doing. Just hope we get it right.
Fingers crossed that Roberts,Talia, Roughy (more worried with his shoulders than talent) & Redpath come on in leaps and bounds

Hawks board says this year they have been trialling Kelly as a big midfielder. Obviously our coach would have a very good idea of his capabilities.

Ah I see, so we continue to clog up our rookie list with very limited players. A Goodes proved last year his ball use is not AFL standard. Has Pearce even played a game? After how many years on the list? Surprised we didn't list Greenwood..

Follows the main draft and trade period of the last few years really, we pick up another club's delistee (Kelly) and keep very ordinary players in Pearce and Goodes on the list. Leaving one true 'rookie' list player. Of course its a sub 185cm player we haven't heard of.

Of course we don't pick up anyone over 192cm, because as we all know if Simon Says there aren't any well...there aren't any.

No surprises here.
