Bloody hell, how hard is our draw.

Every game we play involves a top 4 side ;);););)

Anyone know if there will be any International exhibition games in the pre-season?
(Like Port Adelaide vs Bulldogs in London a few years ago)

Man that was a cold night. Thank God they had Guinness.

Adelaide, Ken has 4 rounds + preseason to dissect phil's game plan, plenty of time.

Phil's game plan = port without fitness or midfield guns

we should all as a community try and get to the Carlton game, or another chosen away game. have a gigantic meet. boost the numbers. generate hype. travel as one!! not just BigFooty people - every Port person we can!

This one smarty?

Great idea ... Carlton game could be the go? Our only minor round one at the G

I don't mind the draw. The only one that irks me is hawks at etihad as others have said.

Bring on next year!!

Thursday night is shit. I can get there easily from work, but it rules out being able to take my boys. And I'll be stuck in a suit there unless I take a change of clothes.

Adelaide with their demographic of supporters whose kids now have kids can have Thursday nights. Suits them perfectly. Shit for our supporter base.
The cows v Collingwood may have seemed to be a success to the AFL but that is a very valid point you make. A great deal of their supporter base do not work and can take in Thursday. Most people would want to see us play Collingwood so it would have been better to schedule that on a Saturday night and a lower-drawing team like the Bulldogs on Thursday to test the waters.

Port has got an awesome home draw

No Early or Mid Afternoon Saturday games at home. This is perfect as Port has a young supporter group compared to many other clubs, these younger supporters find it difficult to attend Saturday day time games due to other commitments.

1 Thursday Night Home Game (Collingwood)
1 Friday Night Home Game (Geelong)
3 Saturday Night Home Game (Sydney, Hawthorn, W Bulldogs)
1 Saturday Twilight Home Game (GWS)
1 Sunday Early Home Game (St Kilda)
1 Sunday Avro Home Game (Adelaide)
2 Sunday Twilight Home Game (Richmond & West Coast)
TBC Home Game (Rd 23 Fremantle)

A members dream, thankyou Simon Lethlean and Gillon McLachlan you have listen to the supporters.

See here's my problem. I'm lapping it up in Bali for the Carlton game. :D

I disagree with this. People will come to watch Collingwood play. They're always a big drawing club. The Bulldogs are a small club who don't draw many crowds. Putting them on a Thursday night here would have been asking for a small crowd. At least this way, the match is a prime one to draw a sold out crowd.

Yet some nuffies on your board insist that Port "again" are being given an armchair ride by the AFL.

I see you have a tough first four games. Our first 4 are more winnable. In the end the most important thing to me (as a crows supporter) is we both get 2 showdowns and we both love to win and have our bragging rights.

My appraisal of both our teams is simple. Port may show some improvement but it will be tough to do significantly better. You wont do worse. We on the other hand should improve significantly because we surely cant do worse. Personally I hope both SA clubs play off against each other in the finals series and that one of us can kick some good old Victorian butt

Good and bad
Certainly.

I also don't think the Hawthorn game will be any good to me as it is too close to finals time for my liking. Will take a hit on my wallet. But then again, we have to make finals.

So probably leaning more towards the Essendon game.

As I'll be moving to Qld in new year ... Lions in May at Gabba then Suns in August at Metricon! :thumbsu:

Hate the Gabba but seeing Port in SEQ twice in one season... AWESOME!

(did actually see us play twice in a season in Bris when we played the Lions in finals)

9 free to air games nationally takes us back to pre 2002 TV deal. Sponsors getting value
Only 6 x 6 day breaks between games and none of them back to back
Only 1 bloody early Sunday game - St Kilda first Sunday in August
2 games in Qld, 1 Syd, 1 Perth and 1 Alice. 5 in Vic is good value with none in Geelong
Play Sydney after the bye - they have a 6 day break playing the previous Friday. Following Thursday collingwood come off a 6 day break.

5 games have potential to be 48k to 52k crowds.
WCE and Rich Sunday twilight will get 40k+
WB Saturday night might get first 40k crowd
GWS - saturday twilight is a good slot for that game. Probably get 40k
StK - sunday early game likely to be only game guaranteed less than 40k

Between rds 5 to 8 we become the Sunday twilight team play all games in that slot

Thu N 1 home - 1 away
Fri N 1-1
Sat A 0-3
Sat T 1-0
Sat N 3-3
Sun E 1-0
Sun A 1-0
Sun T 2-3
** Rd 23 to be determined.

Hawthorn v Port at Etihad on a Friday night? **** off!! would love to see them give us the G for that one and see how well we travel over.

Port Adelaide = HUGE CLUB

does everyone only get 1 bye next season? everyone got two last, right?

Friday night in winter in Melbourne, roof v non roof. Easy choice for AFL and broadcaster to request

Toughest first 5 weeks since 2008 but still tougher than 2008. Cant remember playing 3 top 4 sides in the first month.

Our draw is neither hard nor easy. We should be beating Fremantle, Sydney and Hawthorn...or at least splitting out matches against them. Adelaide we'll account for if we are switched on - don't know why people see an easy draw for them...I can easily see them missing finals again. But then again, I don't rate them at all.

Fremantle, Sydney, Norf, West Coast, Adelaide - ****, it's like being at a shooting gallery.
