What changes would people like to see made to SuperCoach for 2015?

Given the disaster that this year's finals has been for most teams, I thought I'd put out the following suggestion:

Rather than having a maximum of two trades per week with 30 trades in total, keep the 30 trades cap, but allow each team to make as many trades as they want each week, with one condition.
You are allocated 15 trades for the first half of the season (ie. Rd 2-12) and 15 trades for the second half of the season (ie. Rd 13-23). Teams playing for league victory can then choose to hold the majority of their second allotment of 15 trades until the finals, ensuring they have a full team each week to give themselves the best chance of winning their league GF. It allows for more strategy and also allows teams to better capitalise on rookies/bargains on offer.

I understand why the Herald Sun wants a maximum of two trades per round - to try to ensure people are interacting with their team on a weekly basis. But I think something needs to change, as the total number of teams has dropped significantly (from more than 400k in 2011 to around 250k this year). Quite a few people I know who usually take it seriously are losing interest.

Comment on the suggestion above and also feel free to put forward your own suggestions.

It'll be interesting to see what the make up of team entries across the fantasy games will be noting that a few like AFL Fantasy really botched their roll out and GUI's up early on. I think they'll lose a few and maybe more will migrate across to Supercoach. With so many different variants of the game out there now, more will be inclined to streamline themselves with the best games and for me that's SC and maybe RDT.

In terms of changes to SC. Not sure I would want to see too many changes to the trading structure. This year was pretty good with more than enough trades IMO to see out the year. I did thing that maybe a wildcard could be a good idea, but I'm starting to lose interest in that thought now.

I'd like to be able to select each league and see which coaches make up each individual league. Our group is big on focussing on being the best league year in year out, which we do well along with FFC and SCC but seeing who makes up each league would be interesting.

One thing that won't change is that SuperCoachElite will still lead the way on league rankings year in year out......well it will next year anyway!!!

I wouldn't be proposing any major overhaul to Supercoach. Certainly not anything to dumb it down or make it easier, as per AFL Fantasy.

I like the structure of two trades per round (three during bye rounds). Most coaches can't even control themselves with this restriction in place. I think granting more freedom with trades will result in more teams burning out earlier in the season, which can wreck leagues late in the year.

What happened in this year's finals was a freak occurrence. Who would've kept 5+ trades at this stage of the season to make more than two per week anyway?

The only change I'd contemplate would be with interchange benches. Possible ideas:

  • Expanding squads to 34 (ie. three emergencies per line) and/or
  • Allow coaches to "hand-pick" their 4-man emergency bench from all reserve players, with these four players covering donuts on any line.

VCaptain score worth 1.5x.

More DPP players.

DPP changes mid-year like Fantasy & RDT.

Some kind of 'wildcard' to be played once a year only per side, like having a trade into your side that doesn't cost you a normal trade, but only get to keep for one week (as an example).

My idea to better supercoach, would be that the selected emergency players on each lines score, would would automatically replace the lowest scoring on field player. (provided the score is higher). It would help soften the blow of early injury and sub scores. It would also provide a new strategy element to the game by needing to bring in or keep, performing emergencies in your team to maximise the most cover.

I would like to see a smaller range of scoring between a player who has a great game (currently score 170+ SC points) and someone who has a good game (90+ SC points). With the whole anomaly of the VC loophole for those that can manage their team over the weekend as opposed to those who may not be able to it can spoil a season when someone can VC a 170+ score.
A great game in SC should be worth 130 SC points max and a good game 100 SC points. Probably haven't explained it properly but in summary narrow the range of scoring between the max and min.

to actually give an in depth scoring explanation

You two are kidding right?

uncontested mark and effective kick should get you 6 points, live app showing scores are always wrong. I've seen players get 1 or 2 points sometimes 10 or 12
Supercoach scoring or CD scoring isn't cut and dry from my understanding. There are a number of weighting so placed against possessions, score chain involvements, pressure acts etc depending on how critical these may be or influential on the game. A smother in front of goal when the game is within 5 points will be weighted differently to a game that is 100 point margin.

Scaling also plays a critical role at the end of the game to players final SC score

they should write in the rules and state it. Game changing moments +30 or something like that

like that idea, takes the sub out and early injury out of the equation as you say.Not everyone can be following the games all weekend. The sub detracts from the enjoyment of playing SC

24 trades

A separate 3 week Cup format for the MBR's with unlimited trades (Like SC Finals last year) 1st prize a car.

My idea would be to allow each team to be able to make 5 trades in one week once a year.
Could be a wildcard for instance.
And those who say the last couple weeks are freak incidents.
I remember 2009, i was flying in SC, dominating to the GF.
Then Ross Lyon decided to rest half the St Kilda side in the last round and it cost me the flag
