If we ended up with two picks in the teens and used the latter on Jake I think the Essendon faithful would lose there collective $4!7.

Any way it's going to be exciting to be a bystander.

To break it down: at this stage we are guaranteed at least one of Carlisle / Matho (5 gets us either). But end of the day, we want both and should negotiate no lower than a point which gives us a reasonable chance to get both

I feel we only do a downgrade if we have some form of indication that Essendon will accept the lower of the two downgraded picks + steak knives (they get late teens+, we keep 10)

With that guarantee, the downgrade is potentially a spectacular success, as there is a chance we get what we want (Carlisle and Matho) while essentially only giving up 5, 25 & steak knives

Without that guarentee, the risk is raised and we could potentially miss out on both - as Dildo may still butcher negotiations by asking for too much, and we are ultimately left with a weaker draft hand (which may see us miss both the player we want at the draft and Carlisle)

Essentially, to me the downgrade is too much of a risk without an indication that Dildo wont continue to be the a**hole he has been in the last 3 years

Personally I would rather keep 5, tell Essendon there is not a snowflakes chance in hell they get it (as the bulldogs did with 4 - Bontempelli - in the Crameri negotiations), and watch him squirm. I still say he will fold and accept what we offer come Thursday week
Well put

I hate other teams!
go to 2:10 in the video #pendels

also watch his very first highlight and tell me we don't need that, absolute eliteness written all over him
Kicks a lot of 'moon' balls (kicks that go as high as they are long), but he does look a classy player & is certainly elite by hand & very good at putting teammates into space for clean possession

The way I see it is:

It's 2007, a team comes to us & says we're gonna give you pick 24 & David Mundy (just finished his 4th season in 2007 & is a similar type to Seb Ross) for Justin Koschitzke (Carlisle)....

Sorry Kosi, but... Where do we sign!?

Pick 24 & Seb is a great offer

I can see the Carlisle trade getting very late in the piece. Avoid pick 5 at all costs and use the bargaining chip of our second or nothing for Essendon.

I really don't want to lose it. Especially not to Essendon.

Given up less for the Dons talent? Port with Ryder?

Ryder for picks 17 & 37?

Essendon win that trade by a mile.

Kurt Tippett is a better forward/ruck than Ryder, & Tippett is the most overrated & overpayed player in the AFL

Ryder is good, but not picks 17 & 37 good that's for sure
And we are talking about giving up pick 5 and 25 for him with pick 10 coming back

I'll be honest, I would be shattered if Essendon ended up with pick 5 out of the Carlisle trade. They are an arrogant, disgusting club and their fans are the worst going around. I would like to see them struggle for years so would like to get Carlisle as cheap as possible, screw giving them fair value.
Agree. Just shows we are push overs and are not as effective as others at the trade table for getting a favourable outcome

I can't see us bringing in more players after trading in Carlisle and Freeman. Lists spots just seem way too tight already. Unless we trade players it could work but I'd rather keep some of the names thrown around as trade bait.

Given we delist Ray and put him on the rookie list, that allows us to make 2 selection at the national draft and upgrade Sinclair to make the minimum three selections.

As much as I'd like Lachie Weller, let's just chase him next year when he's out of contract.

I couldn't care less if they did in the grand scheme of things, as long as we get Carlsile, a top 10 pick and Freeman. I just want the deal done, it's not about screwing Essendon, it's about getting Carlisle.
