There's a lot talk here that Mathieson is the man we should be drafting and making sure we keep a pick that will secure his services.
Hopefully I'm not the only one that is completely unsold that he is the man for us.
There are a few reasons for this but basically I don't think he his very dynamic nor does he give us anything we don't already have. I agree we need a midfielder but the club has said we've got enough inside mids and we need address a lack of outside run. Parish would be perfect and while Francis may not address this need, he does offer versatility and something both dynamic and different not to mention talent. Although unlikely to be available, even at pick 5, I would take either of those two if available. Otherwise I think it's time, this year, to start addressing needs, take a risk. Not go the safe option in Mathieson, who I see as a solid inside mid which we have in Dunstan, Newnes, Armo, Ross, Weller. Earlier I've advocated for Wayne Milera. I also think Darcy Tucker would give us what we need while like Francis, Curnow offers versatility, something dynamic and something different. I think it is these three we should talking about regarding our top 10 draft selection.
Hibberd and Bonner are guys I'm looking at if we end with later 1st round or early 2nd round selections.
Thoughts?
