what can you tell us about josh begley?

He's my favourite for our first pick. So much upside as a powerful inside mid and high floor as a leading medium forward with x-factor.

That's my take on him too. There's a bit of Petracca about him.

So GWS have nominated 8 academy kids, how many spots do they even have open on their list?
I hope we poach a couple of them as they can seriously play.
Setterfield = no chance.
I'm a big fan of Macreadie although those who do all the phantom drafts and what not have seen him slip considerably this year, Garthwaite is a pretty handy defender too.
Some on here seem pretty keen on Sproule too. Don't think I want the Tiges taking a KPP at #27, but won't be there at our second pick and would cost GWS stuff all to match, wouldn't it?
Like Tiziani but we don't need flankers.

Noticed that Max Lynch, 200cm ruck/fwd didn't make their final cut, hope we can snaffle him up with a late/rookie pick if avaliable. Or are we a chance to get Esava Ratugolea for free due to our discount academy thingy?

What's with the Sam Powell-Pepper love on Tiger threads? He posted a 44% Disposal Efficiency at the National Champs. He has below average decision making ability and tends to throw it on the boot almost instantly. Also, his kicking mechanics are not at an AFL standard. We need to be focusing on guys like Sproule, Macreadie, Cox, Rotham etc

Can I remind ppl we also went with Ben Lennon over Patrick Cripps because of his supposed kicking inefficiency.
Cripps polled 19 Brownlow points this season on a bottom 5 team.
Whoever we draft just hopefully they play with some heart as I feel we've drafted a few softies

Cripps wasn't even considered a top 20 pick by almost everyone. He was seen as a reach and unexpected selection on the day.

There was no "should we pick, Lennon or Cripps" debate. The strong rumour at the time was that we'd take Zac Jones if Lennon wasn't available.

Big deal. He still can't kick. He's over rated.

I wouldn't put to much into the number of players they nominated. They cover themselves by just nominating them.
Suns did the same.

Bishop I see you have selected Begley in your phantom for us at 27, given nobody else seems to rate him that highly, what chance he falls through to our second pick and us doubling up on Ranges boys and getting Clarke as well.

If we did that would it be overkill on inside types or would Begleys ability to play mid/fwd balance things out.

I hope we don't select begley at 27 he strikes me as a man child with no pace I will spew if we select with first

Big contested midfielders have always been on Hardwicks list, yet FJ always drafts flakey flankers with questionable heart.

Begley will go in the second round - I've got almost no doubt with that from what I hear from those with more idea than anyone running around Big Footy. Begley playing mid/fwd balances it out, I tossed up between him and Rotham as a running HBF- But reckon Begley's upside is huge for someone who didn't do a preseason and was super this season out at Eastern. Could be anything in the Petracca mould once he gets under 90 kgs.
