We have 2 first round picks next year, find our KPP at the top of the draft like 90% of the best KPF are found. Get a midfielder in this draft.

I think regardless we need to take one this draft and hope he comes on.
The old cliche talls take longer - we can't wait around for next year's draftees to strta developing.
Face it, talls take longer, but with us they take forever. Our 2017 draftees will be ready in 2020.

The only tall i would consider at 27 is Sproule. Otherwise its a waste of a pick, there is no point forcing it because we feel we need a tall a year early.

This draft is deep for midfielders like 2008 and instead we took Post because we "needed" a tall.

Not out of contract otherwise yes. But he is RFA when he comes out of contract in 2018 so maybe they cash in.



Put simply there are no talls in the top 15 of this draft. So its not like Kerr, Battle etc... are guys slipping through. They are the cream of this years talls but are still looking at being picked up in the 20's.

English and Marshall are both very good prospects.

English is a ruck, maybe becomes KPF. Marshall is very skinny, both are being picked for their perceived upside as opposed to what they've produced compared to previous KPP like Hogan, Patton, Boyd, Wright McCarthy, McCartin, Lever, Weitering, Schache etc...

English goes at 7 because Freo love him and I reckon Marshall goes between 12-20.

Brennan Cox is the other tall worth considering. 195cm, can play either end (AA CHB, 4 goals in SANFL reserves game), very quick over 5-10 metres, great leap, one-grab mark and excellent use of the body in marking contests.

Wow great highlights. I loved how his first thought after getting the ball was to run forwards through a gap and create space, instead of hand balling backwards in tight.

I wonder what happened to that part of his game

Can anyone tell me if they have watched Zach Fisher a WA boy play? He is small in stature. but boy this kid just keeps getting the footy. He is a possession machine and shows a fair bit of flair. Just keeps running.
I'd like to know if anyone has an idea of where he is likely to go in the draft? I know he was in the WA squad and played games for Perth. Super impressive. Like to hear from anyone who has seen him play and what their thoughts on him are.

Really hope we go for Kerr or battle. I don't think they are stars, and apart from a handfull, they are all drafted on potential. Much more to gain if say Kerr comes good than yet another running mid. Vickery gone, Mckenzie retired, chol looking more like defender and Elton? We tend to do ok with second and third picks, will be interesting

i am hoping we steer clear of talls this year as the good ones go top 15.
the worry is that it's a need, as said elsewhere in this thread next yr is good for Talls & we have 2 1st rounders so we can get 1 or even 2 of them next yr (after trades).
this year i'd be taking mids in a deep draft for them, even our 2nd pick we could possible get a good one.

The question marks over Jesse in his draft year was his ability to find the ball. He has not put those question marks to rest in 4 years. Only averaged 16 touches this year.

Rather target Fiorini or just target whoever they get with 6 this year

i made the mistake of starting him in SC yr & he's now on my "never again" list. which is a sure sign we should be steering clear of him.

i certainly would be next yr, Griff isn't the most durable & Jack won't be around forever & we have bugger all coming through atm. Draft a gun key fwd next & we have a 10 yr player we can build our next fwd line around. for mine Griff isn't that player.

2017 is Dimma's 'churn or burn' year.
The 'direction' looks like a decision to back him for one last shot at a successful finals campaign.
It may cost us a gun; but Prestia and Caddy are young enough to see it through a rebuild (and help with it).
Having said that, I have misgivings about Caddy.
Good shot for goal, but apart from that very vanilla.

We would have received either pick 13 or 15 if it was this year, Logue (WA) unlikely to get past West Coast's pick 12 if he's any good.
12 months ago I doubt any of the lunchtime-break keyboard talent scouts had even heard of Logue, there will be similar players that rise up the rankings next year and we'll have 2 first rounders to use.
