I just heard that Richmond is more than likely going to receive a 3rd round compensation pick. This means our contract offer must be ~$350Ks as speculated. That would be in the early 40s at a guess.

That might see them match.

With injury concerns sure , but without, he's the Ali of football, the complete player.

luckily we have "cliff" Burton who'll be just as good.

Seeing Burton and O'Meara on the field together will bemind me of Roughie, and what's his name from the same draft in 2998.:):rainbow::thumbsu:

I don't think I'll live that long mate. And if I did, I wouldn't remember anything beyond the last 200 years.

2998 is the 3rd last year of Franklin's contract at Shitme...

Thinking about List management and if we land JOM and Tom which players become expendable and whose positions on the list unfortunately become untenable. Our three midfield vets in Burgoyne, Hodge and Mitchell will more than likely take on Utility type roles and spend less time in the middle and more time in the backline and forward line. Who does this squeeze out?

The name that immediately jumps out to me is Whitecross whose skills and position I feel is unfortunately completely replaceable by the three vets.
The questions about the mid-tier players who have not cemented a spot yet ie. Woodward, Langford and JOR gets more interesting as with the sort of support JOM and Tom will give in the midfield these players could improve dramatically and therefore become potentially required players. But can we keep all of them and which ones do we see as having the less upside? What are the measures we look at to determine this? Mine are 'time and composure' which I describe as that Lester-smith ability where the player always seems to have more time than any other player on the field. Any thoughts on which of these players has this ability? My bottom of the list and most likely to get squeezed out is JOR who never seems to have that time and composure. Of the others fighting for this position I'm bullish about Lovell and see Shiels and Lewis as cemented.

Forward line gets even more interesting with what seems to be a glut of talls with Shoe, TOB, Sicily who will be battling for spots with Rough, Vickery and Gunners. Shoe's effort and endeavour in last years Grannie was amazing but has his time passed and has his spot been replaced by Burton and Sicily? TOB is interesting as he reminds me of an early Rough before Rough had confidence in his ability. I rate TOB's footy nous and hope we can find a spot for him as I believe he will become a gun when he believes in himself. Sicily I rate but...and I don't really know what this but is but I'm just not sure and unfortunately wouldn't mind too much if he was traded. Burton is the messiah and aint going nowhere.

Small forwards the glut is even bigger, the given is Cyril whose skill and x-factor is so different and individual it is completely irreplaceable. Other spots will be fought out by Breust, Pop, the three vets effected by the midfield squeeze and the up and comings Hardwick, Stewart. I would hate to see either Breust or Poppy leave as their defensive pressure and forward skills are elite but to move one on to gain position i the draft and/or trade currency may be the best thing for the club. If we lose one and Hardwick/Stewart and maybe Jarman fight for that spot it is probably a good thing for the future of the club.

Backline seems to be a work in progress at present so I suppose it's about looking at who are the ones that are going to get the job done and included in this, who is the future. First picked for me would be Stratton, Frawley, Gibson and Birchall and then the other positions around them will be filled by Duryea, Howe, Brand, Heatherly, Litherland, Miles, and the aforementioned Whitecross. On this list who is replaceable and who if left the club would give us the most currency and possibly be the 'easiest' to replace. As mentioned I think Whitecross will be moved on and the other one that makes me grimace but may be the best thing for the club would be Birchall. Am I off the mark here? I'm just thinking that he would be very attractive to other clubs and his position could be learnt /filled by Howe, Miles or even Burton. Thinking about the future of the club this may be the best move, but obviously will have its detractors.

Outside and pace runners is another discussion as is the rucks, maybe I write more later but I would definitely like to pick up Morabito in the rookie draft.

Had a dream about JOM last night ( nothing lewd keep it clean please!).
He was playing his first game for us, sorry can't recall the opponent, hopefully someone like the Pussies or Swans hehehe.
He started in the forward line & snagged like 3 goals in the first 10 mins. Then went on too have a truck load of possies & 2 more goals for the game!
One of the greatest club debuts of all time the Media write up the next few days & these jealous green eyes plebs all go how the F##k do those bastards get it done all the time!

I wouldn't throw the kitchen sink at Fyfe and upset all the hard work the club has done in keeping plays at the club because that's where they want to be. If Fyfe was keen to be a Hawk, he won't get paid as much as he would elsewhere.

Your club desperately wants him,pay up.
Don't worry. You'll at least get end of 2nd round compensation.
If you decide to match how about Pick 33 for Vickery and Pick 61
which is not much better than an end of 2nd rounder(Pick 38)
You can keep him and have a player that doesn't want to be at your club or he can go into the PSD

Whaaaat?

Why are we trading for him?
Freebie or nothing.

I hope that all of our potential trades and draft prospects are being run past Terry "The List Manager" Wallace.

Don't forget, the self proclaimed "List Manager" said back at the end of 2004 when he chose the Richmond coaching job over Hawthorn (according to him, i don't believe he was actually offered the Hawks role as Dunstall always wanted Clarko), "I chose Richmond over the other role because I just believe that their list is better developed and closer to a premiership" (or words to that effect, but it was pretty close to exactly that)

No Terry, I still haven't forgotten...(but did appreciate your contributions as a Hawk player btw)

I'm sure he'd suggest we forget JOM and Mitchell and grab Mayne and Wells instead. (He'd probably agree on getting Vickery though)

Mate who the Fk cares about players that might have to work extra hard to earn a game!!!

Get as much talent as you can in and let everyone scrap it out for a spot.
