Jaksch is actually a good kick of the ball but maybe not a good reader of how to get ball from a to b.
Maybe it was a particularly poor day for him. Don't know but kicking isn't usually an issue.

I did notice last year that even some of our better kicks just didn't execute well when 10-20 meter kicks were called for; DVR, Jaksch, Buckley and even Graham seem to prefer to extend their legs than to punch out a short kick.

Though it is only early and things may change through the season I think with the game being more open with less stoppages teams are going to focus on running machines especially of half back. * out ran the Dees, Suns Freo and Dogs the Saints. Will need Cuningham and another speedster in the side.

I've figured it out.

We need guys (preferably) that can run, spread and hit targets by foot looking indoors.

Sydney were hitting the corridor with precise kicks at every opportunity. They are a fantastic team to watch this season.

Helps when you can pick up A-grade mids every draft like the Swans, though.

If Cuningham can come on well, that'll be the first step.

Makes me wonder why we have 4 KPD whilst Byrne sits on the sideline and Buckley's only available position in forward.

It might not be a popular opinion but I think we miss Buckley down back. We seem to have lost any run from the back-line, I'd prefer to see Jammo, Weitering, Doc, Buckley, Byrne and one of (Rowe, White, or Plowman) depending on match-up or form.

Plowman. Its time to slowly say good bye to rowe and white would rather be playing plowman and jaksch instead of them two tbh. And we need C. Curnow to play every week now he has ability and once he found the pace of the game he was ok... Try smith in for lamb this week coming see how he goes walker in too he may retire if injuries persist

Simpson is almost cooked too. Yesterday what stood out to me was his inability to turn tigtly and pounce on the ball or chase once his 1 on 1 contest was over. Got left in his opponents dust time and time again. Strange for someone who has always been so nimble and quick.

Where do we think Kroose ranks in terms of game impact for a first ruck?

I used to think he he was in the top ten ruckman when playing well.

His lack of marking prowess has become a real liability.

I would have Phillips in the VFL this week to see how Kreuze responds to having most of the ruck duties. Usually at his best with part time support rather than sharing ruck duties.

He's never going to be a pack busting forward or ruck, but he can ruck most of the day with support from Levi, and we need to return to that.

He can rest forward and open up the 50 with searching leads rather than being a focal point in a pack.

It's obvious we need another A-Grade midfielder to match it with clearance specialist teams like Sydney.

If, well.. when we finish with pick 1-3 I wouldn't be adverse to going after both Prestia and O'Meara. Obviously it would cost more than #1-3 but given the circumstances we'd be in a good position.

Our ruckmen need to get more involved when we have the ball. Can't have 10 possessions from 2 bloke playing on the ball. They also need to get hitouts to advantage. Continually hit it to where we weren't.

What would we have to give up for Tom Mitchell? Been on the radar a while, forced his way into Sydneys best 22, but may be surplus to needs as their academy selections develop.

I wouldn't mind us having a look at Josh Jenkins from the Crows. He has put contract talks with the crows on hold. He has just turned 27 so I know he is not in the age profile we look at, but he could be a good stop gap for a few years while McKay, Curnow, and SOSOS develop. Has kicked 86 goals in the last two years. Crows are only offering 2 years, his manager wants 4, but I think he would sign for 3.
