I was born into a non-statistical family. Constantly a disappointment because I was incapable of giving 110%, punished because a sibling gleefully accepted my offer of a millionth of an apple pie instead of the half I had been directed to give.

I always felt like a statistician. I recognised their struggle. I wanted to be like them.

who has the fifth year option on the Daisy contract. Is it a player or club option?

I could see him traded at the end of the year to a team with depth willing to give him two years and a decrease in salary for next year. We wouldn't get much but it would probably help all three parties.

I seem to recall that it's triggered if he plays a certain amount of games in his fourth year.

That makes it easier to move him with a year left on his contract if he can get a guaranteed second year somewhere else.

I do believe a contender wanting a heady veteran will take him on at a lesser contract for two years. Maybe someone like the Dogs to replace an outgoing veteran like a Boyd, Murphy or Morris (all are already 33) - not necessarily positional but veteran based.

We wont get much, perhaps a third or fourth round selection, but it'd benefit everyone.

KJ is a concern. He's quite good in the air but his kicking is well below par. Based on his kicking it's hard to envisage him being a lock for seniors down the track. Which is not what we want

Then he's got time to improve upon his kicking. Plenty of average kicks in the AFL. If he puts his head down and bum up he can do it. Time is on his side.

Fyfe... 15 feet out, virtually straight in front... and misses.

24.1 Standard Playing Contract

(a) All contracts for the playing of Australian Football entered into between a Player, an AFL Club and the AFL shall be in the form of the Standard Playing Contract.

(g) An AFL Club and a Player shall not include provision in a Standard Playing Contract which would entitle either party to unilaterally exercise an option to extend the term of a Player’s contract.

I'm certain I've brought this up before and it's been knocked down, but this seems like it would block any such clause unless they deemed the conscious decision to select the player for the game that triggers the clause as a joint action between player and club, except: what if they're forced to select a player through injury?

So I come back around to it again, and suggest that no such clause exists and any such stipulation is at best a gentleman's agreement that doesn't have to be honoured.

IIRC, possibly his biggest selling point as a draftee was he he had beautiful skills for a tall.

Probably had a couple of accidental shanks in the last VFL practice match and is now being labelled a bad kick.

KJ has shown over the journey his kicking is no more a problem than any other KPP at AFL level.

Teams wont want him on the coin that we're paying him. That I agree is silliness. But do you truly think that nobody would want him at all whatsoever? Is he truly that bad?

If he had the choice to play for two years at a team that should play finals football at substantially less than what we're paying him per season he would be crazy to turn that type of opportunity down.

KJ has shown that he can kick beautifully for a tall. The problem seems to be concentration related for mine. It may even be due to a lack of confidence as well. Lets give the lad some time to string a few games under his belt before we get too critical.

Agree. I believe they are even trying to get him to lead, becoming more confident within himself, more than concentration. He seems to be another who is a little on the introvert side. He can play!
