I think the rule the afl made was that geelong can only host finals in geelong against low drawing opponents which were fremantle, GWS, gold coast and port adelaide which is complete and utter rubbish. Either have it for all teams or dont do it all.

In hindsight though that win in 2013 was more special and memorable cause it was played there instead of etihad.

And we can still boast having won more finals in geelong then the cats themselves

Exactly - even if there was already a game at the MCG the Eagles would not have to play Geelong in Geelong because the AFL just randomly make rules up to suit themselves.

Not so. That's not how the MCG contract works.

"The AFL's contract with the Melbourne Cricket Club requires that at least ten finals matches (excluding Grand Finals) are played at the MCG every five years. This means an average of two finals must be played at the venue per year, plus each Grand Final. This is not normally expected to be a problem, but in the event that the non-Victorian clubs dominate the competition, the AFL would be forced to schedule a non-Victorian team's home match at the MCG to reach this quota."

So unless that one game blows out the quota of the last five years the afl could schedule it there.

Gubby is a campaigner. Hope he gets the book thrown at him. Whitfield stupid - in May last year? About the time McCarthy first said he wanted out. McCarthy lucky to be out of there.

Whitfield is obviously still at GWS, but Lambert's back at Brisbane and is regarded as being great to keeping draftees, which will **** Brisbane up massively if found guilty. If Gubby gets wiped out, that could see Balme staying, which then affects numerous other clubs in the running for him etc as well.
