Dang I voted sproule but think ladhams will be number 1 rookie to fill a need, his mobility looks promising and kicking looked sound for a big man, if we did would that be the end of mckernan? Or do we grab both?

I think we are sound with depth for key defenders and mids for now.

We did commit to picking him up in the RD. I understand we need to start (and have started) making the tough calls, that's pretty rough though.
 
I'm not too knowledgeable on the remaining players but would love a ruck in terms of needs. Think we need to get one (or even 2 to develop).

I'm not particularly excited in truth about re-rookieing McKernan and Eades. I feel like it works out so rarely. McKernan isn't even a genuine first ruck anyway - he's too small at AFL level. I'd rather take 2 rookie rucks and develop them. Eades i think is surplus to requirements. An extra KP rookie and another ball winning midfielder would be good as well in terms of other needs but not super essential.

I hope we take our Cat B quota if there is anyone decent available. I like the idea of a 'free' shot (in terms of draft resources/salary cap). Worst case scenario we spend a little money and have a slightly better VFL team.
 
Given the club is on record saying that three players who have been on the list have accepted offers for the rookie spots there is not a lot of discussion needed other than who is the third player ?

The McKernan situation is easy. He had some injury issues this year and they still see him as a decent forward who can ruck albeit at only an average level. No point picking out rookie rucks this year, they simply are not around. Save picking tall players for next year where at this stage the peth appears to be a bit stronger.

Three? Where did we say that? I know they said something about players (plural) but I assumed that was just the two (Eades and McKernan).

My reading of our list is we have the following talls:
Key Backs: Hartley, Hurley, Brown, Ambrose
Key Forwards: Daniher, Hooker, Francis, Stewart
Rucks: Luenberger, Bellchambers
This gives us ten in total.
Most sides have 7 play at once (3 back 3 forward and a ruck). Meaning we have 3 for depth - which really isn't enough.
Leuy has a checkered injury history and we can't be sure of Hooker, Hurley and Bellchambers durability.
Anything less than McKernan (who can cover ruck and key forward) and one other ruck or tall would be reckless in my eyes.
 
Sproule has a lot of talent but a bit of an attitude problem. Hopefully if we pick him,not being taken in the main draft will scare some discipline into the kid.

PS. Tom Wallis is 251/1 for the 2017 Rising Star, I'd say that's little skinny;)
