Will be interesting to see if SOS continues with the types of players he has targeted in the last 2 years. Midfield types that are quick, agile and elite/solid by foot.

While the conversation around disposal by foot can vary dramatically, sure all have you have differing opinions with what you have viewed either live, footage or both

The following is purely based around 20M sprints, to date, for players that I have noticed people are interested in with our first pick

NAME 20M SPRINT
DOW 2.916
LDU 2.980
RAYNER 2.982
STEPHENSON 3.007
CONSTABLE 3.090
CERRA NO DATA (Would rate him below the top 3)

Isn't Stephenson supposed to have elite speed.
That 20m sprint isn't slow, but it ain't upper echelon either.

Dow's is impressive for a guy that can play inside at a high level.

Wouldn't say Stephenson is slow either, but that suggests he may pick up speed after the initial 20, does seem agile though, combine will confirm it either way

Really simple for me.

Rayner is easily the standout player in the draft. If Rayner isn't available Stephenson is the next best.

Dow, LDU, Cerra all good prospects, but with a high pick we need to be aiming for a star. Rayner and Stephenson both have star quality

I can't see that coming about somehow.
Saints will likely look at trading one or both of those picks out, for players.

Rayner seems to be the likely fit for us right now, but who knows.
Even that can change and then we may not have the pick #3 come the ND.
They could, but I wouldn't be so sure about that. They're in an interesting predicament the Aints. McCartin isn't necessarily a lock with his form, development, concussion & diabetic issues, which means he's no guarantee to fill the hole left by Riewoldt. Yet to be convinced that Ross is going to be the dynamo he's threatened to become. They've had a number of high profile trades which have only worked out to be muddling at best. While steady, Carlisle hasn't really impacted the game as much as expected, but he has had a year out though. Steele has struggled to maintain his spot, while Freeman & Longer have essentially been non-events. Nathan Brown has been serviceable without starring and is no spring chicken. Ironically, it's been the lower profile trades of Koby Stevens and Dylan Roberton that have gone gangbusters for them.

Are the Saints two 1st Round Picks too much for Kelly??? I think their picks are. There's a very real chance that Picks 7 & 8, could net them 2 of Brander, Brayshaw, Naughton & Higgins of which any combination would certainly strengthen their list. For me, one of the biggest issues is that everyone equates a thin draft to a shit draft and that's not the case. I'd argue that the back end of this years 1st Round is easily as good as last years, if not better.

They might be tempted to trade Pick 8 (plus a swap of later picks if needed) for the Tigers two 1st Round Picks. I'd use the lower one to try to acquire Mitch McGovern and use the later one plus Pick 7 to acquire the best 2 mids I could get. To potentially come away with McGovern, Brayshaw and Worpel would be a handy result.

Ameet Bains certainly has some options to play with and nothing is certain, but imo they could do a lot worse than take those two picks to the draft.

Apologies if this has already been discussed but does anyone have more information or an opinion about Aiden Bonar.

"AIDEN Bonar is shaping as one of the most intriguing prospects in this year's NAB AFL Draft after returning from two knee reconstructions to highlight his talent in recent weeks."

I like the sound of this guy..

Interesting stuff, Stephenson looks quicker then he is, because he usaually has the ball running in space, after a hand ball recieve.
Dow has that rare combo of high level inside work and explosive speed, particularly around the stoppage, which has him rocketing up the draft boards.
Rayner has that effortless type explosive speed, were it kinda seem like it just comes naturally to him.
LDU also has a nice burst of speed, but isn't as adept at knowing how to best use.

Interesting thing is Pickett is quicker then all these guys, pretty sure he holds the record @ 2.80.
He flat out has turbo.

So with Lions shopping around pick #1, does that leave it ripe for the plucking by Saints for #7 and #8 and for them to steal Raynor out from under our noses?

I was worried about this, but the Lions will keep pick one, for a team rebuilding up north the marketability around a number one pick, makes a lot of sense.
GCS was the one that had me more concerned, but it does seem like the general consensus is there are 4 or 5 really elite level talents in this years draft, clubs generally don't trade those really high picks.

Plus look how easily the Saints got spoked by Patracca's interview, I'm sure SOS would no how to play it out, if Rayner is really the player we want.

Joel Wilkinson @ 2.75

Would you believe, the best time in 2000 was, Luke Livingston's 2.82

Luke had turbo, was 2.80 Pickett time in his draft year IIRC.

Think he did record a 2.80, but that wasn't at the draft combine of 2014

20 Meter Sprint Result (seconds)
the group average was 3.02 seconds

Rank Result (seconds) Name
1 2.81 secs Marvin Baynham
2 2.87 Oleg Markov
2.87 Jarrod Pickett
2.87 Reece McKenzie
5 2.88 Connor Menadue
6 2.90 Nakia Cockatoo
7 2.92 Ed Langdon
8 2.93 Paddy Brophy
2.93 Conor McKenna
2.93 Nathan Drummond

It was a shame that Joel had no idea how to use his pace or where to run. Raw pace isn't everything especially if you react a second slower than your opponent on where to run to get the ball.

Think with Pickett it's not just his raw speed, he has all the tricks to go with it, including a footy IQ, he knows how and when to use turbo, very exciting combo.

FYI - Pickett ran his 2.80s time at the AFL Academy testing in the January of his draft year.
