Where did ainsworth come from?
Brayden Ainsworth 27/11/98 Subiaco/Ports (Esperance) 183cm, 75kg.
2017 was Ainsworth's first year playing football at a serious level and has acquitted himself quite well. Had a good consistent U18 Carnival as a mid/HFF and averaged the most clearances of any player in this years U18 Championships. Runs hard and never afraid to put his body over the ball to win the contested possession. Disposal can be a little iffy, but I'd be surprised if someone didn't have a crack at him in the 3rd or 4th Rounds. ;)

Rayner gives some badly needed goal scoring power and has the tools needed to become a very good midfielder, he just seems to be the type of player we need most IMO.
I really rate Dow and he is most likely the safer pick, but Rayner has off the chart level potential.

1. Rayner
2. Dow
3. LDU
4. Cerra

5. Stephenson
6. LOB
7. Brander
8. Fogarty
9. Coffield

10. Clarke
11. Higgins
12. Worpel
This is pretty much how I see the top end talent ATM, clear top 4 prospects, then a group of 5 or so a level below and another group of 3/4 prospects at the back end of the top 10, with TAC cup finals, U18 All Stars game and draft combine, there's still a fair bit to play out.
Don't rate Constable Old navy???

I really hope Rayner, should we choose him, doesnt get a case of the Stringers... i almost render him useless atm.

I went to school with Stringer and still see him every now and then. Safe to say Stringers issues are completely linked to his personality rather than playing ability. From what I've seen of Rayner, I'm confident that this shouldn't be an issue.

Think HARKER was referring to Ainsworth at GC

Pick 1: Brisbane Lions: Paddy Dow
Pick 2: Gold Coast: Adam Cerra
Pick 3: Carlton: Luke Davies-Uniacke
Pick 4: North Melbourne: Cam Rayner
Pick 5: Fremantle: Jarrod Brander

Oddly though, he has us by-passing Rayner at our pick #3

Interesting how they differ from his power rankings, must be getting snippets on who clubs are interested in
If Fogarty slides all the way to 17, someone should be banned for draft tampering.

Could be second guessing our need for a genuine inside mid
Better to get someone cheaper like Hopper, Anthony Miles (from Tigers) or Rockliffe for the inside mid role. LDU will take a few years before he is at full speed anyway and Cripps needs help now.

Get Rayner as best available if we don't trade #3 for Kelly!

Ldu could play straight away i recon, extremely strong through the hips already

This is how I would currently rate the draftees, in groups with no particular order

  1. Dow, Cerra, Rayner, Constable, Brayshaw
  2. Brander, LDU, Naughton, D Fogarty, Higgins
  3. Stephenson, Coffield, Clark, O'Brien, Garner
  4. Spargo, Ling, L. Forgarty, Allen, Ballendon
Possible late charge from Bonar and or Roughsedge

Hard to get a handle on Stephenson.

In the champs he had one game kicking left footers out of his arse, next game at KP he was just another hbf.

Risk/reward......nah.

Then again if Rayner goes 1/2, personally would take Higgins.

Wouldn't be disappointed if SOS selected him

Higgins is a very smart footballer, quick mind, quick hands

For a kid that is not blessed with height or raw speed, Zorko

Bishop has his latest rankings up.
He now has the guy I'm particularly keen on, in Coffield, really moving along.
Just keep your eye on Brayshaw....climbing up everyone's list with a bullet. Would love another 1st Round Pick in the Top 10.

From what little footage I could find of Roughsedge, he looks completely out of condition.
I'd expect as much after having his leg in brace for well over 12 months, but imagine the impact a fit Roughsedge would have.

Think you've got that pretty close. Ballendon is a difficult one to place and I liked what I saw of him live. Would be tempted to swap Clark and D.Fogarty around and the reason for this is that you have something in common with your selections in the 3rd grouping.....they're all enigmas. Extremely talented, promise plenty, but don't deliver on all that talent or potential nearly as much as they should or could.

looks like we will get a gun with our pick as the top half of the draft looks strong
Top end talent was never an issue with this draft. It just fallls away more than last year.
