We won't jump the Suns. Not even if they lose both remaining games by 60 points and we loose to Dees by 30 and beat North by 30. We'd have to beat North by 60 loose to Dees by less then 30 and have the Suns loose both their remaining games by 60.
There's a fair chance the Suns will get spanked next week at Adelaide oval. It's not out of the question. Also if we manage to beat both Melbourne and North, we'll jump the suns. Both scenarios are unlikely but still very possible we end up with pick 4

I'm still keen on LDU as a safe choice. Seems very well rounded. Maybe similar to Josh Kennedy. My preference would be to finish 15th and get him with pick 4. I'd also like a midfielder who could start forward and be dangerous and head into the midfield gradually with the Port pick. Maybe Zac Bailey.

I agree with your theory, but not sure that we've got many quality talls coming through the Academy over the next 3 years or so, aside from Tozer in 2019 (although 16 is too early to accurately rate kids) and maybe Conor McFadyen next year.

Certainly no talls in sight for 2020 right now.

I'm going really early here but keep an eye on Lu'ba Kagi for 2021/22 (not sure on the cutoff).

Absolute giant for his age but incredibly mobile (district level sprinter). Glides. Great kid too... respectful and coachable. Lives and breathes footy. Even coaches our grade 7 school team. I'm obviously going early but geez he ticks all the boxes you're looking for at his age. Had a kick with him the other day and he was marking the ball one-on-one and one-on-two at the highest point again and again. Just a natural.

Edit: oh and he LOVES the Lions.

Of the three pure mids that we have been linked with at our first pick I am hoping for LDU or Dow and with Cerra I'm a bit hesitant. He seems like a 'nice' player, nice skills, moves nice, nice height but that's about it. He doesn't present as a true inside mid and that's what I believe we need and Dow (definitely) and LDU show more ability on the inside. Brayshaw for me at that Port pick with then O'Brien and possibly Hunter Clark.

I look forward to hearing about how you taught him everything he knows in the years to come.

Any impressing he does in interviews is surely a credit to any English teaching he has received.

Think we need the teaching on how to pronounce his name. All I think of when I see his name is Kubo, great movie btw.

Rhymes with Tuba. Just replace the T with an L.

Should probably move this derail to the Academy thread :/

Irrelevant question considering nobody will bid on him that early.

Noting that Twomey has Ballenden at 18 in his latest phantom draft from his erstwhile opinion as a possible no.1, I would have to say that the chances of a rival club bidding at 1 to 3 is highly unlikely.

It will be of interest to me to see which club bids on Ballenden and at which pick and if it is matched.

Also of interest is him having Naish in the top 10. That would take Richmond's first rounder out of the Ballenden hunt and they are the club most in need of a KPP and the club that most likes bidding on academy players.

St Kilda also a chance with their second pick. Riewoldt retiring, doubts over McCartin's health long term, leaving just Bruce, Membrey and possibly Carlisle. Probably would go for Brander first but still a possibility?

Most have had Naish in the 15 to 20 range so I'll be interested to watch over the next couple of weeks to see if Twomey is an outlier there or if others follow suit and move Naish up their respective boards.

Exactly. Our first picks seem to be very one dimensional. Last year Berry is quite well rounded but Clugg has a very long way to go with his inside work and even his kicking lacks penetration.

Ah yes gotcha. So will the Tigers first rounder you'd think. I thought we were referring to our second rounder.
Port still has a chance to finish above Richmond and Geelong depending on how the finals pan out.
But Richmond need to win their Final 2 games to stay ahead of Port you would think becUse of their percentage.

Is this our dream scenario unfolding with Bellandeen? Sliding on Cal's phantom draft with two/three talls now ranked above him...

Personally i would have preferred him to absolutely dominant and in conversation for pick 1/2 and us get him for pick 14. Thats my dream scenario cause it means we just got a top pick for a much lower one.

True, but fair to say Hipwood would attract earlier bids than 14 with the benefit of hindsight. Ballenden has plenty of upside too.
