Any goodwill I had towards Balic's future career just evaporated. As I posted in th MB thread:

If we got 47 I'd say fine, good luck to the lad in his career, but 66? That would make me pretty bitter after what we've invested into him.

If we get Jack Martin for Weller and Matera for Balic then I would say that we have done very well. Landing Wilson with a future 2nd round pick would be the icing on the cake.

Imo some people seriously minimising how big of a risk Balic still is. Huge upside but after 4 games it's still all maybes and what ifs. Sucks to not be rewarded for the time and resources Freo put into Balic but that's life..... and him not playing again in 2017 really screwed us .

and tbh that's what I'm personally am annoyed about. It's one thing to say 'Look fellas, post round 23, I'm heading back to Melbourne and not coming back,' but it's another thing to go home 8 rounds in, and not come back and play for the rest of the season. If he'd actually played out the season, he would have probably had more trade value than ****ing pick 66

Yeh, 66 is fine. Was hoping a third rounder at best. Additionally nobody outside the club would know exactly what is going on at home. Kid can play but obviously being home became more important than footy for him.

You want to be known as a club that looks after players so you can’t pull a McCarthy.

Besides after screaming blue murder about the way GWS handles Cam Mac it would be hypocritical to act differently when it was our player.

No more a risk than some random kid picked 47 though.

And definitely more upside and exposed form than some kid picked at 66.

I think Gold Coast are the ones that want to get it done quickly.
If I was Lloydy I'd be turning up this morning with shades on & a pina colada in my hand, taking my sweet time. If they're as desperate for Weller as they seem to be, let's bloody milk them. ESPECIALLY if that somehow involves Martin!

Matera is worthless and Weller was drafted at 13 and still in contract. How do you get to that conclusion? We rate him as our best young player, that's a big thing seeing as we're in a rebuild. Lloyd will not roll over and good on him.

I'm pretty sure everyone rates Blakely as our best young player. No need to tell porkies to justify wanting a better draft pick.
