No doubt..

Gibbs would improve any team.

Only argument is what afc will pay.

Somewhere between the lever pick and our first.

Id be pushing our first but thats biased. How about lever pick 10 for gibbs and next years second?

Or pick 18 and 19? If that comes for cameron.

Imho gibbs value has.gone down as compared to last year.

Imho both supporter bases might not be totally happy with the outcome.

Gibbs is contracted for another 2 years!

I think the Crows would think Lever's trade value is higher than Gibbs.

We'd be thinking of keeping pick 10, not using it as a straight swap for Gibbs. We'd be looking at trading pick 17 for Gibbs (just guessing). Wouldn't that be a win/win and suit both clubs?

Pick 17 isn't anything flash.

Gibbs is super important for us and is certainly worth more than that (to us).

Ask a Freo fan about him.
Seen a lot of him when playing for Peel.
His good to his bad are miles a part.
Never know which player will turn up.
Was touted as Pav's replacement and I seriously think it went to his head and it was all just going to happen for him, without doing the hard yards.
Extremely bad defensively, rarely chases.
If you could compare him to anyone at Carlton, it would have been Kristian Jaksch.
Could be anything.

I think Gibbs is a great player, but the general consensus on the Crows board is that he's below Sloane and MCrouch. Further, BRouch has been monsterous over the last month. So if he continues with the rate of improvement, Gibbs will behind him also. So at best, Gibbs will be the 3rd best Mid at the Crows.

With the emergence of greenwood (below Gibbs) and the significant improvement from the crouch brothers, the need for a premium Mid just isn't as high as it was last year. Hope that gives this board some perspective from our end.

That is fair enough...your midfield has stood up this year unlike last year.

And i'm sure you've already heard this but for some perspective from our end, our midfield sucks and Gibbs is probably our best mid.
Heard plenty of Adelaide supporters talk about how he won't play in our next premiership which is likely true, but if we lost Gibbs our young midfield would get smashed even more and it would stunt their development. We need players like Gibbs to lead the way so our younger mids develop properly...none of us here want to lose Gibbs and then watch us get flogged every game next year.

So, like last year, we're probably in a situation where we value Gibbs far higher than Adelaide do, hence the difference in what both sides perceive to be fair value.

Of course they would, but it's up to them to get as much as they can for him. That's got nothing to do with us and how much we value Gibbs.
I agree that Gibbs probably isn't worth pick 10 in a perfect scenario, but that's probably what it would take to get him.
Can't see SOS accepting 17 or 18.
Maybe 15 at a stretch ;) but even then I'd prefer to keep him unless 15 was then used in some other deal that worked in our favour.

I'd be happy with 17 & 39. Two good young players in a rebuild. That's fair value for a 28 year old. Just don't think SOS would
Reckon Adelaide second this year use it for Kennedy and a salary dump + next years first to get an extra early pick in a supposed strong draft .
Go hard at Rockliff to replace Gibbs .

17&18 would be good to use for other trades or pick changes, but it depends on what's available.

Similar to the Deledio trade, but Richmond will get a first and a third. But Richmond are paying a big chunk of Lid's salary. If we were to do 17 & 39, Carlton would have to contribute to Gibb's salary for the next 2 years. Looks like it has worked out well for Richmond and not GWS. Maybe a warning that we should walk away from this one.

Adelaide are going to ask for two first rounders got lever

If they get them Gibbs will be more accessible. If we can get a first and second pick for Gibbs all is good in the hood

Though pick 10 alone would be moist and juicy.

Unlikely trade scenario but its fun.

Adel get 10 for Lever
Gibbs and 54 to Crows for 10 and 35
35 to GWS for Kennedy and salary dump/s
37 to Lions for Schache*

Lions do this cause on the sly we have let them know we will offer Rockliff 1mil/year for the first two years triggering band 1 and giving them pick 2 (probably draft tampering so shhhh... dont tell anyone)

35 for Kennedy is unders so we will have to take some terrible contracts as well but we should have space.

Lion lose Rockliff and Schache
Gain pick 2 and 38.

GWS lose Kennedy but dump a heap of salary and gain pick 35

We make out like bandits. Lose Gibbs 38 and 54
Pick up Kennedy Schache and Rockliff plus a 1 or 2 no longer in GWS plans.
Go to the draft with pick 4 and 11.

Come on SOS make it happen

What are the chances Melbourne give up their first this year and next for Lever? Would love if we could acquire Melbourne's 2018 first rounder for Gibbs

Not sure if you're aware of this but we paid 3 years of Gibbs' 5 year contract and it was heavily rumoured to be front loaded. I think we've paid enough of his contract. If you get 2 x 1sts for Lever, as you've supposedly requested, pick 10 is easily done.
