Id happily take Rockliff as a free agent but something tells me if we grab him Daisy probably wont get offered a contract.
Why do you think that
They're two fairly different player types and it's not like Thomas is demanding any coin of significance

Dasiy will be on a nominal good faith gesture type smaller scale salary becuase of his good action of releasing the cllub from contractural obligation.
Otherwise he'd be out surely.

I'm willing to back the club if we decide to take a punt on Rockliff. He is a damn fine player. Questionable attitude etc, but if we can make it work, then all the better.

The questionable attitude was only ever around captaincy material though...and he wouldn't be in our leadership group.

His attitude towards his footy has always been first class...an absolute competitor who is determined to win.
Besides, his attitude is said to have improved this year.

Just speaking in general, i reckon we need to recruit a few more natural accumulators in the midfield.

Our last 3 in Cuningham, SPS & Fisher look like dam fine players, but none of them have ever been big accumulators even at junior level and so far (early days though) that's also been the case at AFL level.

If my memory serves me correct Rockliff was the leading scorer in the TAC. We may have found ourselves a goal kicking small we have been lacking. We have tried both Lamb and Fisher and I am not so sure they are natural small forwards. Also wouldn't mind seeing Saad been played as a small forward. Could create havoc with slow defences alongside Pickett.

Club wants to get games into the youngster so if a 28 year rockliff comes in it would make sense for an older guy to be dropped out not take a younger players spot.

Similar to the Deledio trade, but Richmond will get a first and a third. But Richmond are paying a big chunk of Lid's salary. If we were to do 17 & 39, Carlton would have to contribute to Gibb's salary for the next 2 years. Looks like it has worked out well for Richmond and not GWS. Maybe a warning that we should walk away from this one.
Gibbs has a heavily front ended contract with us so I doubt we would pay any of his contract. Deledio had been injury prone and Richmond were quite happy to move him on. Gibbs is very durable and has barely missed a game. Carlton does not want to lose Gibbs, he is one of our best players and is needed to help our young midfielders. We will not be trading him away for less than he is worth to us. Why should we?
