McKay all but confirmed Rockliff will be at Carlton next season. 'We will bolster our list with trading and FREE AGENCY", we aren't in the market for any other free agents.
Indicates that we will very likely make an offer, Port may trump it though.

Lang has some defining attributes, unlike Lamb, who's a small forward who doesn't kick goals, isn't fast and doesn't have the core strength to out-body opponents.
Lamb is a hard worker with a good defensive ethic and exceptional game sense to set up teammates.

He is better up the ground delivering it in then kicking at goal.

Lets not keep clogging list with average footballers. Not really sure Lang is anything but. And ffs time to get rid of boekhorst graham and Buckley. And if wevr fairdinkum kerridge as well. Turnover merchants who continually make poor decisions. All of them been in system long enough. All been given chances to stake a claim...pay out Palmer and smezt.
Nothing personal against these guys but if we are going to get better then we got move on.
Outside BB..does anyone think any of the other will get us anything in a trade

Sounds like Kennedy is a good chance to come across, and happy either way if we retain Gibbs.

Would love to attack trade week aggressively and bring in the right type of players for our evolving gameplan. Love the idea of Saad though we're probably underestimating what he'll cost. I'd certainly prefer him to Lang though if we pick up Smith, and I'm bullish about our forwardline if we managed to land him.

Curnow, McKay, Rayner, Pickett and Smith, with SPS and Fisher rotating through. Murphy, Gibbs and Rockliff are all very capable up forward as well. All of a sudden we've got a far more damaging best 22 players out there, with a stack of match-winners.

I'm convinced Gibbs is gone now.

If we can net Rockliff, Smith, Kennedy and a pick to grab Tim Kelly (28) then we are well in front. That's four players that will spend the bulk of their time through the midfield, just what we need (especially given Rockliff and Kelly will be immediately deployed to help Cripps on the inside).

The first DFA window occurs during the trade period. The second occurs after the trade period, and the third one occurs after the National Draft.

Each reflects the delisting periods, and also the flexibility needed in these times so clubs can respond to any major gaps in their list, or opportunities that come up to improve their list in the wake of changes immediately after the season, the trade period and the national draft.

GWS will never sign off on that proposed trade, and the GC trade is us downgrading a pick for garbage. I don't understand how you thought the Freo trade looked good either.

Can we stop talking about Shaw and Langdon, please? They are terrible.

Also, can we put you, Geoff and 4thchicken in a room and only let you out when you're prepared to analyse players before inserting them into a trade scenario?
That's an opinion I suppose, actually no its not. Here's one though. How about you **** OFF keyboard expert and stop sniping as you always do and actually have a real opinion.

Wouldn't be surprised if this eventuates as the trades -

Carlton Out - Gibbs
Carlton In - Pick 16 + 34

Carlton Out - Pick 16
Carlton In - M.Kennedy & D.Smith

Carlton In - Rockliff FA

---------------------------

Could use 34 for Saad if we really want him if not take to the draft with 3, 34, 38 and 56. Best available with 3; 34 or 38 for T.Kelly.

Would love 10 for Gibbs instead of 16 but not sure if the Crows come to the table on that. They might do. Very well could end up a big 4 way trade deal between us, Crows, GWS and Melbourne.

Looks about right to me and I'd keep the #34 unless a Docherty is out there.
I know many of us are saying we'll take the Lever pick, but if I was Adelaide, I wouldn't do it.
Adelaide will take that pick and possibly pick-up Fogarty.

It's often that the trade that make most sense are the ones that will get done. Pretty sure this will come about again for the CFC.

If we want Docherty in the midfield next year, especially as it seems likely he'll take on the captaincy, I'd have no problems getting Saad in. I think Docherty is just better staying down back playing the quarterback style role for us (aka. Hodgey, Goddard but just with Doch being a better bloke). I'd rather develop Williamson more than have Saad.

If Crows land 10 + 27 for Lever I'd assume we'd ask for 27 instead of 34 and could very well get it. Probably bang on the right price in all honest.

The only thing we have to worry about is which pick will net us Kennedy & Smith.
If SOS thinks that the Crows #16 gets it done, then work on that and take on another second rounder as against fighting tooth and nail for the #10, only to hand it over to GWS anyway.

It may be trickier than that, but we've already seen what SOS did for a pick ~#15 last year, netting Marchbank & Pickett.
Let's do the same again for Kennedy & Smith. Easy. :)

I'm resigned to the fact that we're only bringing in both of Kennedy and Smith if Gibbs leaves.

To that effect, I think Mackay and Gibbs publicly stating their intentions is part of the plan to try and extract 2 picks from the Crows. We probably have sat Bryce down and told him to play his role in the trade and we'll get him home.

Can't see how else SOS would have thought he'd be bringing in Kennedy and Smith with only a future 2nd in hand.

Gut feel is Rocky signs for Port. I have a feeling they'd be willing to pay overs on his contract amount and years while we won't. Hope I'm wrong on that one though.

Agreed, SOS will reverse engineer this.

He will know what he needs for GWS and other trades.

With that info in hand, he will negotiate with Adelaide, knowing the flow-on consequences. That way we end up in the best possible net position.
