Worpel definitely looked a first round player if he was in last years draft... this year, he might be lucky to make the third round from what I've heard. Is not coping well at all.

Just goes to show...all this fawning over next years draft is over exaggerated. I'm sure a lot of people here saying next years is so much better have barely watched any games and are just repeating what they've heard once or twice in the media.

There weren't that many underage players named in the AA team this year...

Only one got in. Although Rankine would've been very close.

I haven't put a whole lot of thought into this, but just thinking about where various teams are at, I wonder whether we might find a trade, one way or another, that involves:

Lever -> Bulldogs
Macrae -> Carlton
Gibbs -> Crows

I would suggest that, right now, we lose the most in quality but we gain in age. Probably need to throw in a sweetener though. Feel like overall it works for all teams. Crows need an extra mid, Dogs need a quality defender and we need a youthful quality mid

I haven't followed this thread closely, so apologies if it's already been discussed.

Given Jones emergence, is Weitering surplus to our needs.
Not for one minute am I questioning his abilty; but is he possibly a straight up trade for Kelly.

I feel backline assuming Jones form continues to end of year, is balanced.

Jones marchbank and plowman the bigs. Williamson, Docherty and Byrne the smalls.

Rowe and/or ASOS back up down back.

We keep pick 2 or 3, plus Gibbs. Get Kelly.

If Weitering were 27, I'd say it's a fair question. But I don't think there's many circumstances we would give away someone of his quality as a 21 year old.

I was think a similar thing but with McGoven going to WC, Gibbs to Adelaide and Duggan and something else from adelaide to us.

Giving away his quality for Josh Kelly. Not as if we aren't compensated.

You got to give something to get something. In this case, ages basically the same. Both would complement the other side well.

We're not giving up a bloke who has all the makings of a champion player who has the mindset take a team to a genuine champion status. It's a rare combination.

Casboult won't be here next year, while Rowe and ASOS aren't likely to be here in 3 years, and there's still plenty of room for him at either end regardless. SOS didn't even think about trying to leverage pick 1, such was the quality of Weitering compared to the rest of what was an excellent top 10.

Worpel to slide into the third round ??

Rrrrrightio then ..........

*shakes head*
Yeah lol stupid call - as if Whirlpool will slide that far. I reckon the real sliders will be that tall red-head guy (you know the one), and number 17 for Vic Country. Or was it Metro? No, sorry, he was WA in the TAC Cup. Everyone seems to think he's good, but there's something about that 3 minute highlights video that screams "There's something you haven't seen here that will make me slide well into the third round", and you can't ignore them feels, amiright? Whereas, you just don't get that feeling with Whippel.
