Ok gonna try something that is insanely out of line with a reset but here goes.
Fair to say at this point that we killed the 2015&16 draft. Way beyond expectation at this stage. Is it totally unreasonable to think that we MAY be in a position, cap space pending that we chase ALL the big fish knowing that we are maybe ahead of schedule.
Trade 2017 and 2018 1st rounders for Kelly ( and maybe hopper. That's maybe not enough for them).
Keep Gibbs.
Bring in free agent ( Martin or Fyfe)
Keep kreuz at all costs.
Assuming he's up to it add Ben SOS in 2018 f/s.
We have bugger all at the draft table for next 2 years but have added some real MAN power.
Given our defence is set the only hole left would be up forward, where given the strength of the mids we can run a smaller more skilful rotation ( ie Martin/Fyfe, gibba, crippa and murph)
If and a big IF McKay/Kerr develop as hoped then our talls will be solid enough to complement this( keeping in mind Charlie and SOJ are no short people) and fast track to maybe 2018 finals/contention but more like 2019 and beyond flag calculations.
For the record I want to see sustained long term growth/success and love where the club is going but I wonder
Can this be done given the new CBA etc???

All I can say is Hello premiership!!!

Perceived behavioural issues?

Okay let me put it this way. If that woman was your wife, mum, sister etc, would you want the guy, who stood over her, threatened to stab her with chop sticks, intimidated her by banging the brick-wall above her head, to be recruited to the club?

My answer would be no, no matter how good a player he was. What about you?
Good point well made

I'd take Martin at the club for the right price. Seems like plenty of clubs are scoping him out and he'll more than likely end up elsewhere but if the rumour is true, it's good to hear the club is exploring all options. No point outing a player because of their age or what we perceive their contract situation is like. I'm glad our team want to find out.

I'd prefer we look at getting Kelly and Hopper though. Younger, marginally less expensive (in Kelly's case) and will be pretty attainable.

FWIW I'd comfortably take Dusty over Fyfe.

I posted basically the same a couple of days ago. I don't think it is far-fetched at all.

I think we put GWS in a position where they have to deal with us for Kelly and Hopper. The key is to sell Kelly on the club and a high-value deal. Then, we trade up with Brisbane for the #1 pick (send them our top next year too, or something else of value to them). That means Kelly can walk to us in the draft. We offer pick 1 to GWS for Kelly AND Hopper. If they accept, we get both. If not, Kelly walks and they get nothing.

I think there's some smoke to the fire that is Tippet, too. I'm sure SOS is thinking about these scenarios, and if he was available with Sydney paying a significant portion of his salary that gives us a great asset - it frees up Casboult as an option, or we just run back with a bigger, better forward line next year.

Premiership? Probably not. But a midfield of Kreuzer, Gibbs, Murphy, Martin, Kelly, Hopper, Cripps, Curnow.... with our backline.... and an upgraded forward line based around Tippet/Casboult and an extra year into Silvagni/Curnow/SPS/Pickett

Geez, I'm getting excited just dreaming about it...

That doesn't make sense. Adding Tippett doesn't upgrade. He's like adding a really big negative.

Tipped kicked 50-odd goals only 2 years ago.

He is 30 and had a bad run with injuries but if Casboult leaves it would be better than nobody, which is the alternative unless Harry McKay improves very fast.

Only makes sense in the context of the other moves though - if we retain our current core, add Martin, Kelly and Hopper and go all in on a premiership window. If the rest doesn't happen it makes no sense at all

No, he didn't. Tippett has been a waste of money for the Swans, even when he was playing. Don't want to pay for his retirement and don't think he'll add anything to the club.

By the end of the year McKay should be playing, which makes getting Tippett a little redundant.

Plus, Tippett's form has been dreadful and he's declining quickly. He was good as an athletic lead-up forward and played his best footy at Adelaide but he's lost some of that spring and is far too heavy and cumbersome for the modern game. His footy IQ is pretty dreadful too.

Just cannot see it transpiring, particularly given his age and his unwaveringly bad recent form - and that's when he's managed to get on the park.

Bolton has been rumoured to have turned water into wine before, maybe he can turn Tippet into John Coleman:D

Since it's starting as early as next year, i wonder what affect it will have on trades.

Will be interesting to see if some clubs basically just pay everyone a bit more to keep it even, or some like North prepared to use that extra few million in space to just land 2 guns for 1 million each.
It will be less than 2mil available though as minimum salaries go up. So rookies, draftees etc get more so that eats into it as well as any players with clauses that stipulate an increase with cap. So i guess that would be 200k ish gone already and that would be for every team.
