2nds 2017 - Peel Thunder

I doubt Peel reserves will be playing finals. That's one of the drawbacks of the alignment - the club lacks depth because a lot of decent WAFL players don't want to hang around.

Only seems a problem for Peel though. EP keep their players and have depth to the point their ressies go very well.

Tbf, it's always been a problem for Peel even before the alignment. Generally have a strong colts team but can't keep them. More money in the Sth West leagues I guess.

Does anyone kow if Leroy Jetta will be returning to Peel for the 2017 season? he would be a handy recruit and would add some experience to the club.

Where is Nyhuis, Deluca? Forward line looks better with Balic, Deluca, Bennell. Rucks Griffen, Clarke?

I don't see Blakely playing any games with Peel this year and I don't think either of Langdon or Tucker will play less games with Fremantle than they did last year

The rotation of players between teams should ensure both clubs are primed for an assault at the right time of the
season, help with injury, reward form.
I also forgot about Ryan, looking at the players likely available through the year for Peel, is it too early to suggest back to
back?

Let's hope so , both Langdon and tucker is more flexible than blakely in term of versatility. Sheriden and sutty got more experience at the back to switch with weller or croz if need for match up . blakely is a gun as inside mid but compare to fyfe, Neale ,s.hill , Walters and mundy who can all play various role as HF, inside mid , wing , HB I think he need to improve his versatility to gain a spot. Currently I see blakely as young Barlow than mundy because he will be exposed playing HF or HB . I can see blakely and balic further their education with peel playing HF and inside mid and take their chances when injuries and suspension open up spot. Eg Walters injured and Neale move to play HF then blakely will be automatic in .

Not seen my buddy nyhuis in training for a while , deluca recently also running lap . Griffen will play but Clarke nobody know.

All starts soon:
Pre-Season Fixtures
Saturday, 25 February
3:00 PM - Peel Thunder vs. Perth at Bendigo Bank Stadium

Saturday, 11 March
2:15 PM - Peel Thunder vs. West Perth at Bendigo Bank Stadium

WAFL 2017 Season
Round 1 - Saturday 18 March
7:05PM - East Perth vs. Peel at Leedervillle Oval

Peel is going to be an interesting one to watch this season. We've lost a few of our best ball winners so will be plenty of pressure for Deluca and Grey to step up. Expecting Balic to really star for Peel and get a senior call up, and can see Logue spending some time as an inside mid in the WAFL as well. Plus hoping our half backs rotate through the middle as well. Adding Jetta will be handy up forward. Thinking something like this (not everyone missing would fit into Freo's B22 so we'd insert a couple more Docker names at least):

B Nyhuis Collins Logue
HB Hughes Cox Ryan
C Suban Balic Duman
HF Jetta Uebergang Ugle
F Bell Strnadica Milward
FOL Darcy Deluca Grey
I/C O'Brien Walsh Thorne Lawler Hura Humble...

Sad to said that uebergang won't be available at least first 6 round .

Its a big ask for Strnadica to step up from colts to seniors, and when will Ueber be back from injury?
Will be interesting to see how the big men are played between teams, you can see Dawson/Collins rotating, and maybe pressure of the forwards
will see Tabs, Ape, Kersten spend some time in the wafl.
Rucks are the same with Darcy, Griffen, Clarke, can all play forward/ruck?

Whoops, forgot he was injured still. Clarke, Griffin, Apeness can't all play for Freo if fit, so one of them would slot in to the forward line for him and share the ruck with Darcy - most likely Griff at this stage I'd think. I hope we don't go too tall

Yeah I'd throw him in there personally - I think he'll develop far better in the League team than in the Reserves team (where the ball rarely comes i50). And we'll have plenty of talls to rotate in as support for him.

I really interested to see my buddy improve , of course don't mind seeing your buddy duman going past players at ease in WAFL.;)

Don't mind Darcy playing defence ruck to release logue to mid and cox to forward. His left boot kick is elite .

I think you know I'm also a fan of Nyhuis - watching him work as an inside mid the day our new draftees arrived late last year got me thinking he might have more to offer than just being a lock down defender. Duman's got all the tools, just needs to build the body and have the right attitude and I think he could be pretty good at AFL level. I'm still backing Hughes as well, I think he has a really good kick and has more aerial ability and strength than the other two. Going to like watching these three + Luke Ryan developing together at Peel this year.

I think if freo really serious about rebuild for the future don't see the benefit to play Dawson and Griff with peel full time. If both train well should be up for freo selection .

I will definitely put Darcy as first ruck for peel as a lot of people think he is too good for reserve . strnadica will be playing the position left by tanner Smith .

Gu- replace by grey
Deboer- balic
C.Pearce - deluca
Silva- Dawson
Boostma - cox

Griff ,Dawson , MJ all should not be consider for peel if the young players perform.
I would of thought if Freo are looking forward Dawson and Griff will be playing for Peel not the other way round.

There is a positive in Dawson and Griffen playing for peel... Dawson plays on full back then a Cox or Logue plays CHB. Griffen plays ruck? Then that means Darcy or Strnadica plays as a 2nd ruck and tall forward.

I rather griffin play forward , as for Dawson I think he will be on emergency most of the time . I don't mind him playing for peel , but playing Dawson and Collins together the defense will be strong but rebound problem and turnover will be higher . will have clearer picture on 25 Feb what position all these players play since cam Sheppard always around during training.

well it seems Dawson and Collins are similar players, But are just stoppers. Still.... If I have it my way, Let one play in the AFL the other play in the WAFL. Let them both get 10 games each.

Blakely being exposed? You might be surprised. He is very strong in the contest and a lot quicker than you'd think - especially over the first 10 metres.

What about his kicking towards goal , still need some polished . can't see him replacing my top 4 inside mid if all of them fit (fyfe, neale, mundy , bennell). Then you still got Walters and s.hill who can slot in if needed. Last year prove that Walters and s.hill is pretty handy if needed as inside mid .

Anybody going to peel pre season game vs perth this Saturday ? Purplereign

Apart from heat

Logue
Balic
Luke Ryan
Grey
Deluca
Stranadica
Might be there .

Was just checking out the WAFL fixtures and I quite like the TV coverage Peel will be getting:

Round 1 vs East Perth - 18 March on 7Mate
Round 4 vs Subiaco - 7 April on 7Mate
Round 7 vs East Perth - 29 April on 7
Round 9 vs Swan Districts - 13 May on 7Mate

WAFL/Ch7 obviously realising the appeal of people watching the two AFL affiliated clubs go at it. Remember thinking it was strange they didn't televise these "derbies" last year. Round 18 onwards will have broadcasts organised based on performance.

So we should all be able to see all our new recruits in action Round 1 :) Unfortunately we won't see the much anticipated Blakely vs Lamb because one will be playing AFL (no prizes for guessing which one but as a hint it isn't the one picked by West Coast earlier in the draft).
