Considering that the Lions have been accused of 'Hijacking' a trade late last week. I wouldn't mind hijacking Lachie Weller. Throw em pick 12, and throw him a similar offer to what GCS are. 21 yr old fits that age bracket. Or are there a few reasons why we would not?

It makes sense not to start Qld bidding wars in the future.

I mean Freo saying top 10 pick. 12 is their best bet from a QLD club without 1 and 2 being traded. IMO he is worth more than pick 5 being moved up 3 places even if a 20's pick is thrown in this year. Pick 12 seems bang on.

That is true, but look at Port V Crows and Motlop. This is about business. Despite us getting the spoon the wider AFL community have agreed that we are better placed than the Suns. If we want to be the number one team than lets be the number one team.

It is about business. Because over the years I reckon there will be more Qld players wanting to come to us than the Suns. So I'm in the camp of not provoking the Suns here as it should benefit us more than them ultimately.

One player the Lions will definitely add to their ranks is Hawthorn veteran Luke Hodge, who they will hope will play for two years while also coaching.

The Lions can add the four-time premiership winner for nothing in the pre-season draft, but are considering doing a trade with the Hawks to provide them with compensation.

"That was the plan, through pre-season, but if we can do something and help Hawthorn come Thursday, then that's just a nice gesture," Noble said.

Dogs having difficulty moving up the order (regarding their attempts to turn two picks in the 20s into 13)

Think it'll be the same for us. Not really much value in a pick outside the Top 20 this year.

Makes it interesting what we do with Pick 18/20 that isn't used on Cameron RE Ballenden bid. If we're convinced it'll be a Top 20 bid and if moving up can't be done, do we just downgrade Pick 20 and then upgrade Pick 12 so we can at least improve our position?

9 & 28 for 12 & 20 with the Bulldogs? 28 & 43 used to match whatever the Ballenden bid is.

Would prefer trying to get 20 into the teens so we can get 3 draftees and then Ballenden, but if it can't be done best to improve the position of 12.

Would have been a token pick trade you'd imagine, I don't think the Hawks lose anything really.

Having tight list spots means we can keep another late pick live for points. Guessing it doesn't necessarily have to be PSD, presuming there would be a delisted free agency period following the draft too?
