Getting tim kelly would be great for our centre bounces . Suddenly we go from 3/4 of our centre mids/rucks being slow plodders ( vardy priddis mitchell) to just 1/4 (redden/sheed) with natanui kelly and shuey all quick .
I think our fortunes would turn around quick with just that one draftee and nic back .

Sometimes you cringe because you can see something unfold even though it is just a head scratcher. Something inevitable even though it is just wrong...

After todays grand final I'm convinced West Coast will draft Jake Patmore. Even though he is everything they should stay away from. West Coast will draft him...probably with a second round pick...O'Brien will come out and say how happy they are to get him and can't believe he didn't go earlier.

I can see a valid point in both arguments.

Im interested to hear why. Not that I disagree just want to hear what people think. I watched a short highlight video and he seems kind of nippy but his decision making and some disposals are pretty bad. Also what's his preferred position?

You can see it happening as well can't you? You just see West Coast recruiters watching his work rate and stat numbers while being blinded by the little he does to get the ball.

For what it's worth I think this year there is very little to be excited about coming out of WA. Although there are one or two that have a wide range of possibilities, can either be AA or a complete dud depending on how things work out (Redhead prime example). My top 10 out of WA are
Aaron Naughton (Peel Thunder)

Sam Taylor (Swan Districts)
Tim Kelly (South Fremantle)

Oscar Allen (West Perth)
Brandon Starcevich (East Perth)
Callan England (Claremont)
Kyron Hayden (Subiaco)
Aaron Redhead (East Perth)

Jake Patmore (Claremont)
Scott Jones (East Perth)

Naughton easy #1 with top 3 clear of the rest by a fair margin. Next 3 are good but not in the class of the top 3. Redhead, a 200cm ruckman with pace that kicks goals could be anything but his kicking style (unorthodox while effective under 35m) is a concern. Patmore a long way back. Liam Ryan was 10th but took him out after today, all the reasons 18 clubs overlooked him last year stood out again.

Know the focus is on midfielders for most but would be very very happy if we get Naughton with our first pick. I think he's one out of the box and someone we will regret overlooking no matter who we pick up.

A bit of a vague answer but thats ok.

Can we then assume that with the FA options this year now looking thin that we wont be investing any of our excess cap space this year on a FA?

It feels as if the Eagles are in "no mans land", not good enough to match the top sides not bad enough to need a full rebuild. Finishing just inside the top eight doesnt get you access to the elite kids. Our strike rate in the draft particularly with 2nd round picks hasnt been great for some time. Unfortunatly Perth is not a popular trade destination so what does the club do?

Finishing 6-10 is a bit of no mans landcas you say. The issue is recognizing your list for what it is & Simpson understands.
Naita changes the whole dimension of the team - provided if course he comes back as he left off. Games are won with contested possessions & he provides WC with a greater than 50/50 opportunity to do so. Then the mids become pro rather than reactive - a huge change to 2017.
Add some pace into the mids - say with a Kelly along with natural development of Sheed etc, its now a different feel. The fwds are dangerous & the backs solid.

Its hard to transition players to Perth if they're not from there - Adelaide has a similar issue.

Many think WC dont try to get high quality players to Perth - I can categorically advise they do. Names that dont reach the media are asked & asked again.

Its why WC back the draft - they back themselves to hold said kid & history says they usually do.

I reckon most states including Victoria would have a low hit rate when it came to trading in interstate players though wouldn't they? Correct me if im wrong though.

Our problem is that we can't even get the local guys back here once they've been drafted. Similar to what you're saying but it runs deeper when we can't even lure the locals back.

You'd think with only two WA teams and the amount of gun west aussies around we'd be able to lure 1 or 2 back each. But we are restricted to the draft, and as you say, back ourselves in to keep the draftees.

So would we seriously entertain the thought of trading pick 13 for Fasolo?

Oh my god seriously I will stop following football if this happens.

Seriously I will ****ing delete my account and give up on football if we trade anything more than our 4th round pick for Fasolo. The ABSOLUTE last thing we need.

Cmon Vozzo and Simpson. I know you want instant success and you'll jump at any opportunity to bring in a mature age WA player. But seriously if you can't realise that that thinking is exactly why you're in this position to begin with...then **** you
