Would be interested in hearing why you (and others, tbf) immediately dismiss Schloithe as an option. Yes, a bit of a ducker, but I rate his mongrel, can kick a goal and seems pretty decent by foot whenever I watch him.

Also re: Ryan I feel he would benefit from an AFL standard forward line around him, as the Peel defenders (rightly) often double teamed him. He wouldn't get that treatment at AFL level.
The ducking is an issue, plus he’s had a crack at it with Freo previously and didn’t make their senior list (Menegola factor aside that doesn’t augur well for his prospects). Just feel that Kelly would have more to offer at the next level pound for pound.

Ryan certainly won’t draw the level of attention he gets at Subi but is he really the small forward we need? Seems a lead up/high marking type that is happy to fly for the hanger rather than stay front & square for crumbs. Was absolutely infuriating this year watching most of our forwards all go up for the mark and no one stay down at the fall of the ball. In fact I’d go as far as saying JK is our best crumbing forward (ala his work towards the end of the first period of extra time against Port).

What would Adelaide want for Cameron? Would a second rounder get it done?
His camp were quick to say that he doesn't want to come West, only to Brisbane. I think Adelaide have said they'll make him see out his contract but I think they would want a late first round if they were to sell

Why does he want to go to Brisbane so much if his parents are here?

What is interesting is comparing the Eagles to the Crows.

It has become quite the talking point how for some reason the Crows continue to lose top end talent. The other side to this is they seem to end up with multiple 1st round picks and replenish via the draft.

We seem to be the opposite. We really dont lose top talent back to Victoria and seem able to hold onto our interstate recruits.

So who would you rather be?

What also differentiates the Crows from us is their ability to :

1. Draft well with the picks they get, their recruiters have a better eye for talent identification, than ours.

and here is the biggie.

2. More importantly they develop their players as well as any other Club in the League.

Whilst I do get your point.:thumbsu:

The bolded bit is crucial to their on going success, now if we could just address this shortcoming in our own Club , I feel we would be much better served.

Why does he want to go to Brisbane so much if his parents are here?

Maybe he wanted to get as far away as he can from his parents.

Seriously does it matter? Maybe he has a sweetheart or great bunch of friends he considers family.

Zero interest in Schloithe. Limited interest in Ryan given the number of baths Nyhuis has given him; will be found out against AFL quality defenders.

Tim Kelly though definitely should be brought into the club. Has all the right tools and could pretty much walk into our 18 in round 1 next year.
I have a bad feeling that given the chance we'll actually choose Schloithe over Kelly... Hope not though. :straining:

This Afl is so compromised. Concessions to East Coast teams. Playing the GF at the MCG. I am not whinging about it because it is A business its entertainment and it does give jobs and entertains us. Free agency and trades helps Vic teams even more it seems. No one wants to go to Gold Coast or Brisbane and stay there. This is not a whinge, It is just stating the discrepancies.
Drafting and Trading is entertaining .
This is why we are in this forum / thread after all.
The Afl wont reduce trade week because it keeps AFL in the news ahead of other codes
Expectations of success is affected because of these discrepancies . It is so much more for the clubs that have to grind through the ardships . Home finals are a measure of success. Winning a Prelim where its at our home ground and being there is so much more . Getting to the GF tops the finals season if I can call it that. Winning is cream.

People havent actually taken this seriously have they?
I choose to.

By the time i start repeating it to all and sundry tomorrow the mullet will be like a bridal train - he’ll be 7’2” and will have banged as many virgins in as many tents as we need to pick him up as a second round rookie.

Apparently top 5 in this draft are strong, then it drops with the next 10 picks about equal. So unless we can upgrade into the top 5, there's no point.

Lycett is only likely to agree to a move to SA, and neither Adelaide nor Port need him. Not sure we have anyone else with enough value to trade into the top 5 now that Gaff is off the table.
Would argue that both S.A. teams could do with a successor to Jacobs and Ryder.

Plus whoever we use 13 on.

We would also likely get their 2nd for our 3rd.

So a Higgins 10 , Clarke 13, Allan or OBrien 16, Warple 30, Kelly 36 and Ah chee.

Thats how you inject top end midfield talent into the list and only give up one quality player.

But this will never happen because we are not stupid.

EFA.

Thank god you don't make decisions on the club's behalf. You don't trade one of your top 3 players and a dual All Australian who to the best of our knowledge doesn't want to go anywhere, for guys who haven't even played an AFL game yet. Christ almighty.

If the CBA increase was written in Danger's contract, he'll still be on less than 900k next season.

Respectfully, Gov is not worth $1m/season in my opinion
If Jake Lever is worth $650k and Mitch McGovern is worth $750k, Jeremy is worth $1m easily. Supply and demand baby, he's one of the two best key position defenders in the comp, and by damn, the man will get paid accordingly.

Both clubs are just trying to get the best deal they can. It's business, nothing more. They'll hold out and one club will fold at the last minute

I know thats what it is but does it suit Ah Chee? Just hope he is happy to be flexible on where he will live, where he will continue his career while we fight for the right to pick a player at a slightly higher pick that will be not what we need and wont get a game anyway. :p
