List Mgmt. 2018 Draft Prospects aka the West and Khamis thread

I hope Twomey's phantom is way wrong in terms of the six bids coming in the first thirty picks and is just a
sign that he only wanted to make less live predictions because he had nothing. Collingwood not doing a lot
of picking if their two bids are matched that early. Going to be an interesting two days. Yesterday I did a
sixty pick phantom with no bids just based on the picks teams had and today I did a sixty pick phantom
based on pure numbers removing the teams completely, the differences were staggering when I removed
the thought of team needs.

I can't see how live trading can accommodate sweetening the deal, negotiating or counter offering. Port (and hopefully others) simply offer us their best deal and we've got a couple of minutes to accept or pass.
Agree it’s as simple as that, make us an offer that’s weighted in our favor of fcuk off!! I just want us to get the best player we can not assist other clubs in doing so.... Should be interesting tomorrow night.

Man, the problem with these draft machine highlight videos is that they're literally only showing highlights, in other words, good involvements. If these were all the recruiters had to work with, every player be in top 5 contention.

The giantroo videos on youtube showed all the player's involvements throughout a match, and you could see their stuffups too. Provides a much better assessment of a player.

I’ve ranked the potential deals offered for pick 7 from best to worst, each deal amounts to the closest number of points..,

1. We trade 7, 27 and future second for GWS’ 9 and 11
2. Three-way trade between us, saints and crows. Crows lose 8 and 16 for 4. Saints lose 4 for 7 and 27. We lose 7 and 27 for 8 and 16.
3. We trade 7, 27 and future third for ports 10 and 15.
4. We trade 7, 27 and future second for GWS’ 9, 19 and future third.
5. We trade 7, 27 for GWS 11 and 19

Obviously option 2 would occur before saints bid on pick 4. Keen to hear everyone’s thoughts on which (if any) deals they’d take. I personally would be happy with any of them but would rank them in that order.

What are khamis’s weaknesses?

What number do we think he’d go if he wasn’t a next gen nominee??

Seems to have a lot of attributes that suit modern footy.
He is raw as he'll a lot of upside but someone who won't have an immediate impact. In saying that I personally rate him on par with Collingwoods NGA kid quaynor who is tipped to get a late first early second round bid

I remember in the U18 Championship Grand Final vs SA, he struggled defensively, particularly in the second half. Couldn't stay with his man.
Could someone please sell me on why we should look at butters?
Some people think we need more outside accumulation and class, and he'd be one of the major candidates if we trade down to the 9-20 range.

Personally I'd prefer Will Hayes with a later pick. Same type of player, except he's ready to go and has been in our system for 5 years.

Sam McClure (I know, I Know) reporting StKilda team still at loggerheads with their 4 pick. One key member sold on Rozee, another on King. Will have a massive bearing on everything that follows.

I am one that would like outside accumulation speed and class which he has. However I can't see him getting more then 10-15 touches, he appears to outside for mine and with his size my fear is he will get pushed out way to easily. Add size and potentially lose his speed.

Just trying to squeeze as much as they can out of port or Adelaide in any trade.

“Somewhere between picks five to eight is probably where I see myself,” Ben King said.

“I have been looking at those picks closely, but it’s hard to gauge what clubs are thinking; they’re quite secretive.

“I’d prefer to stay with my family in Melbourne and get to the Western Bulldogs (pick 7), but I’m really just keen to play some AFL footy and wherever I fall, that’s life.”

With all this talk about "trading down," I just hope we don't go and outsmart ourselves.

I can see the attraction, bit worried that trading 7 & 27 might backfire if the 2nd pick we get back is still in the West bid match zone.

I’ve mentioned before that I know someone close to S.Power. They are playing cards close to their chest but reading between the lines, Rozee could still be in the mix! Hard to believe I know but it’s something we are planning for. Also got the impression that we are leaning towards B.King rather than Smith if it comes down to those two. There are definitely negotiations in play with other clubs regarding pick swaps etc but did not get any detail. Sounds like we will consider but only on our terms. This surprised me as we’ve cradled that pick 7 like a newborn infant right through the trade period (not even The Chad was going to part us with it).

More on the West bid situation. I have noticed a bit of talk here along the lines that the clubs do the right thing by each other. But I think there are plenty of examples of the clubs keeping each other honest and not handing out favours that result in a draft advantage to a competitor.
