I couldn’t help myself. He’s cut & paste straight from Warner, Barrett and other Melb flog journos.Anyone read Knightmares draft thread lately? I know he is just a junior football watcher and his opinion is really no different to anyone else’s once it gets to AFL football, but gee he’s lost the plot. He’s thrown all the cliches out there on us.
‘Won’t win a game’
‘Worse than Fitzroy’
‘A list of state league players could beat them’
‘Essendon 2016 VFL team could beat them’
Seems to have quite the axe to grind.

Thats exactly how it reads. I do question how many people watched us rounds 1-5 with a somewhat healthy squad. People just look at how we finished the year with our what 26 available players and think thats the best of what we had and that Lynch/May/Hall/Kk were in our best players/playing those games.I couldn’t help myself. Not that anything is going to change his mind on this until next season comes around. He seems firmly entrenched in his views.
Exactly, I had a look back at the stats from the Swans win and from what I can recall except for May camping himself on the goal line in the last quarter none of the blokes who left (and Jack Martin) contributed to the win.I couldn’t help myself. Yeah read that yesterday. If you’re already depressed about the state of our list, DO NOT GO THERE!!! If his assessment is even vaguely correct, we have to shut up shop now. Absolutely went to town on us.Anyone read Knightmares draft thread lately? I think 17er posted quite a good response to it.....![]()
Agreed, it was a perfect response 17er. It would be the perfect revenge if our band of misfits hungry for a second chance and success dominated the competition next year.Yep what 17er did in there is what we all need and want from the great man. That’s how to use your skills 17er for our great city.
Geez Bods it was a figure of speech. Calm down man. Clearly used sarcastically towards a ridiculous and hysterical assessment of our club. There is next to no chance of the AFL shutting us down. Their determination to make the Suns a success is matched only by their arrogance in all things Victorian. We aren’t going anywhere. The AFL is cashed up to the eyeballs and will continue to pump $$$ into Queensland and NSW until we can stand on our own two feet. The TV rights depend on our existence. There’ll be about 4.4m people living in SEQ by 2031, with 5.5m by 2051. They can’t ignore that market. Conversely, Tasmania, the state where a lot of anti-Suns supporters want a team. aims to increase its population to just 650k by 2050. The AFL might be arrogant, but they’re not stupid. As someone who’s loved various NRL, NBL and Soccer teams on the GC and experienced the pain of seeing teams be killed off by administrators I cannot tell you how much I despise the term “shut up shop” especially from a fellow supporter.
I implore you and everyone else to not use phrases like that.
Because the pain of it actually happening is very high.
Wouldn’t have Crossley in our best 22 just yet. May and Lynch would’ve been in our best 4 players, but not Lyons and Hall. As for Nicholls. Clearly doesn’t watch a lot of our games.Got a reply from Knightmare. He agrees that the incumbent Best 22 I put up is our best team, except he'd put Crossley in there - my Depth Chart has Crossley in there too.
However, he rated Lyons and Hall among our 4 best players, the others being Lynch and May, while he believes that Nicholls is among the only 8 "good" players left on our list. I think Chris Doerre is a pen name for Scott Clayton. Flawed genius.
yes that assessment of hall as one of our best 4 players was comical. Classical example of a guy who does flashy things on tv but overall is not a positive.Got a reply from Knightmare. Guys...…..and there it is - The TV rights depend on our existence..... there is some crazy extra dough that the AFL got because of us and GWS so the truth is they will find a way to make us relevant and the money they throw at us is a drop in the bucket compared to what their TV rights upside is, we are not going anywhere. The grass roots of junior AFL here in QLD is also firing which is extremely important to them as well...…..finally as a Tassie born and bred AFL lover I would love to see them get a team but I fear they would really struggle to get corporate ongoing dollars to sustain themGeez Bods it was a figure of speech. I agree with the need for some good young ruck/forward talent, but I'd put the two on a par. Goober has two advantages: he's a local and he's got AFL experience. The question is, do we get BW and pit him against BC?Wouldn’t have Crossley in our best 22 just yet. May and Lynch would’ve been in our best 4 players, but not Lyons and Hall. As for Nicholls. Clearly doesn’t watch a lot of our games.
On Goober, I recently commented on a phantom that had us picking Bailey Williams at #24 and rubbished it, because I want more mids. However after watching some more of Bailey he reminds me of a more athletic and skilled version of Goober. A hard at it forward/Ruck who is very physically developed already. Wouldn’t be a bad pick at all if he makes it to the late twenties.
