He's an elite user of the ball because he has time and space in the Sydney back line that is generated for him. It was the same with Malceski.

When Lloyd is forced to play on an opposition it's the one with the least threat. He is a huge liability in this space. He won't have that same luxury on our team.

I've always thought he was/is overrated. Very good in a very niche position in the Swans team. The Swans know this and know his value hence that's what their offer is. We should be throwing that cash at someone like Josh Thomas - a mid that can go forward and help our depth immensely in that area.
Thomas type you can draft in rookie or late draft. Castagna , Butler , Graham ?

Don't worry - if Lynch leaves there will be plenty of cash to splash

You can get that 'type' but can you guarantee me you can get a proven performer that can kick 24 goals in 14 games, while averaging 17 efficient touches a game

I can't but can you guarantee he will get that type of number playing with GC , look at how hard Mayne work defensively in third quarter and 4 th quarter .

He is playing in the forward line along with
Stephenson pick 6
De goey pick 5

BIG BIG no to Llyod. The guy cannot defend and is the master of cheapies. He will fall apart in our back line!! Don't do it! Our back line structure is fine. Lloyd isn't a need. Get us mids!
What Lloyd does amazingly that we need is distribute it very well by foot from defense. He essentially plays the Kolodjashnij/Hanley role, but even better.

With Hanley nearish to retirement + always injured, Hall likely gone next year and question marks on Kolo, I think he's exactly what we need.

I personally think your overstating this a bit. Can play off a wing too and we are dying for players that can spread plus use the ball well.

Have to disagree with you. Also Malceski was just cooked and over 30 when he came to us. Not even remotely similar situation except for that they both play off HB.

What's Will Brodie's availability? Doesn't seem to get much oppurtunity for a top 10 pick. Would love him (and some balancing either way) for Lloyd.

Can work thing out , I know a lot of rumour his dad work with Carlton , but I think Sydney will make him a better player than him with Carlton TBH . Look at silvagni development.

Definitely not available. He's contracted for another two years.

Also don't be surprised to see Nic Newman included as part of the deal to get us s better pick or player. My mail from a family member is that he was only getting games last year because of dew and he wants to get up to GC.

Enjoy your new half back. We have a couple brewing in our reserves. No way are we going yo increase our offer by over $1m. Lloyd is a good player but he is plain just not worth what yours guys are offering.
Nic Malceski says hi and kept waving even after he retired:(

I'd be keen for that.

Isn't Newman a back flanker as well? Lord have mercy.
A lot of team now play players in multiple position. Look at Parker or Kennedy they occasionally move forward to allow Players like Hayward ,Heeney , Florent learn to play Midfield, so when they retire those guys can play Mid and create smooth transition . Back flanker are part of midfield rotation eg when JJ (Bulldog) push up someone on the wing fall back defensively .

Newman and lloyd are both capable of playing an outside mid role, and as said if they play halfback it frees hanley, KK, weller to play mid, no more experimenting with ah chee or martin down back aswell. On top of all this they are good ball users, show leadership and create depth. Certainly better then having the likes of rosa and rischa in the team.

Team of back flankers.

For that money I wouldn't really want Lloyd. Great player in the Swans team, but we saw with Malceski, when moved from that environment to ours, it can have an adverse effect.

The flankers on our list at the moment.

Harbrow
Weller
Kolo
Hanley
Wigg
Ballard

Add Newman and Lloyd to that, that is a lot of players off the HB.

We should be looking to throw some coin Josh Thomas' way, and also Mitch Wallis.

How old is Hanley? How many years would he have left in him?
Also Wallis was on future stars this morning saying he wants to stay at bulldogs

Some people think GC is destination club , even if Llyod or Newman come it is because they knew Dew well . Players choose their destination not GC .

Newman averages more inside 50s than rebound 50s at both levels. He is a utility and midfield capable. It's far too simplistic to call either Lloyd or Newman just half back flankers.
