Did a bit of digging and found out that the National Combine invitations are based on club nominations. If a player is nominated by 4 or more clubs, as Brayden Crossley was last year, they go the the National Combine. However, if they receive 3 nominations, as Connor Nutting did last year, they are invited to their State Combine. No surprise that Bailey Scott got 4 or more nominations given he was working off a base of 3 nominations, but it is a clear indication of Dirk Koenen's continued improvement that he's attracted the attention of 4 or more clubs.

I am the least upset , I always said not all Club see players as supporters do . They need to look at their overall list need. How many KPD they need , do the current KPD worth Keeping or Delist for Koenan /Graham type to come in .

Eg if I am going to delist Leslie , how long it take for Graham and Koenan to have an AFL body . If nobody pick Graham up in ND is it better for him to be Rookie B and later upgrade him if he improve ( Dawson , Heron ) .
Nobody is suggesting we delist Leslie except you. Trade him, possibly, but you don't just delist AFL-calibre KPDs. As for how long it will take for Koenen and Graham to develop, they are first choice NEAFL right now so being in the system suggests they would be getting a debut next year. Koenen will be 19 during pre-season, so he's got up to a year advantage over other Draftees. Caleb Graham was selected for the Allies 2 years in a row and has even more NEAFL experience than Koenen. There are 3 clear Academy kids who the Suns will select. Whether they go in the National Draft or Rookie Draft is neither here nor there as long as we strategise for other clubs putting in bids on all of them.

Mitch Wallis according to Jay Clark a target for the Suns.
A few clubs chasing him

Brisbane Lions join chase for Western Bulldogs midfielder Mitch Wallis

BRISBANE has joined the hunt for Western Bulldogs free agent Mitch Wallis to help beef up its midfield for a finals tilt next season.

The Lions have some of the best young talent in the competition and are targeting Wallis to add more leadership and strength through the midfield.

The Herald Sun understands a rival club could prise Wallis out of Whitten Oval with a four-year deal, securing his future until the end of 2022.

Wallis is highly rated at the kennel and his experience and team discipline over 118 games appeals to the Lions, who hit the jackpot acquiring champion Luke Hodge from Hawthorn late last year.

The Lions have registered their interest in the hard-running midfielder with the Wallis camp, but there are a number of clubs in the race to land the father-son jet.

Mitch’s father, Stephen, played 261 games for the Dogs between 1983 and 1996.

Wallis has already attracted interest from Essendon and Gold Coast, with the Bombers widely believed to be in the box seat to keep him in Melbourne.

Essendon is openly targeting another inside ball-winner and is planning to be active in trade period again after landing Jake Stringer, Devon Smith and Adam Saad last year.

Essendon has a quality midfield brigade but want another hard-nosed onballer such as Wallis to fill the void left by Jobe Watson when he retired at the end of last season.

Wallis is weighing up his future at the Bulldogs after another decent season, averaging 21 possessions across 13 games this year.

Wallis has made a full recovery from the horrific broken leg in 2016 but he appeared to fall out of favour last year, playing 12 senior games.

The Dogs are looking to make changes to their list after missing finals for the second-straight year on the back of a stunning 2016 premiership.

Wallis is one of four Western Bulldogs’ free agents facing uncertain futures.

Tom Liberatore, Luke Dahlhaus, Jordan Roughead and Wallis are able to switch clubs at the end of the season under free agency rules.

The club also wants veteran defender Dale Morris to play on next season.

Look very unlikely Wallis will come , but as his player agent is their duty to shop around what other club offer .

Can see him going to Essendon, but happy to take him if we were his choice.
Darcy MacPherson was a Bulldogs Father/son who they didn't take a chance on. Their Dads would have played together for the majority of their careers. It's the little things that can sometimes make a difference. Mitch also played a season with Harbrow at the Doggies.

Only 6 players from across the 6 NEAFL Academies! And 25 from Vic Metro, including Max King who has just done an ACL and didn't play in the Nat Champs. The Allies had 6 players in the U18 All-Australian team to Vic Metro's 5, yet the Combine didn't even bother inviting Caleb Graham who is better than most of Vic Metro's over rated team. Vic Country couldn't win a game all tournament, yet had 19 kids invited.

Seems like a cynical exercise, sort of saying "have a look at this candy, but you can only have it if you make a crazy early bid and the club that has invested years into the kid strangely doesn't match the bid." Still, we shouldn't be upset because for those who've tracked Graham's career, he's going to be a star and the the fewer scouts who see him in position (he is currently playing as a ruckman in the NEAFL) the better.

Star?
So you're saying he'll be in our best 5 players in 5 years?
Seems like a belter if true!

has there been mention of dahlhaus to GC.
Do not want if so,
Never rated.
Tries really hard but a small, not particularly quick, not overly skilled player
Think he would be next to useless in a bad team.

Wouldn't mind Dahlhaus at the right price. Is a free agent as well.

But won't lose any sleep over him.
Both Dahlhaus and Wallis would be great pick ups both are in the right age bracket and both are goal kicking midfielders just what we need and don't have to trade for them

Won't lost any sleep with not getting Wallis and Dahlhaus. Most probably just use GC to get their price up with other club anyway . Dahlhaus -Geelong , Wallis - North/St Kilda/ Blues with GC come last . No harm trying but be prepare they will go to other club.

If we fail to trade in experienced players again this offseason then we can kiss May goodbye now

Well if we are looking for experienced bigger body Mids and Defenders, Sydney could be the place to look.

They may look for some younger picks to revitalize the list a bit while off loading some players.

I would love Harry Cunningham, doesn't get much love outside of Sydney, but had 20 touches tonight at 85% in a losing side which is solid. No chance Sydney let go of him though.

You can't force other players to come , Dahlhaus and Wallis have their own family in Melbourne , RFA get to choose where they like to go . All you can do is try . No guarantee May will stay with Wallis or Dahlhaus coming in either . On paper they look good addition but Gelling with new teammates and playing a different game Style take time and Dew keep mentioning it with Weller situation .

Listening to the Triple M Friday Huddle. Nathan Brown has suggested we have offered Kane Lambert 700k a year over 5 years.

He said it as a passing comment so I don’t know how legit it is.

How many % in your opinion Wallis /Dalhaus will come to GC ?
I don't mind if I guess wrong I think is between 5-10% and I don't think think May will said goodbye if they don't come .
I didn't say they were coming.
Just said they would be good additions to the team.

Think wallis will take the longest and best contract because he's got his premiership.

Whereas Delhaus missed the dogs 2016 premiership with injury so he might go to a team in contention

He would be a good pick up also but he's still contracted till the end of 2019

Thats highly excessive and I'm not usually one to be against overpaying to recruit players. That can't be true.

Also I'm kind of half pregnant on Wallis. I'm not sure he is a solid fix to any of our iasues but if it's not a costly acquisition it's worthwhile. I feel like I struggle to get a consistent read on where he's at and what he provides.

Yeah it is way over the top I reckon. I rate Lambert but I don’t reckon he is worth 700k. I doubt it’s truth as well.

Perhaps Sydney is an Aaron hall destination?

They have Cunningham as mentioned above as their only real quick outside mid.

His booming kick be useful on the small scg.

Seems like a bit of a shakeup in order for them.
