Craig Cameron start to let other club list manager roll over him.

who the **** is that in those stupid jeans

I think the truth is somewhere in the middle with Scrim.
Yes he faced some adversity off field, but two other boys who went in the first round have lost parents and are interstate. At $400K you need to work through it.
And if what his dad said is correct that we sacked the psych and entire welfare dept with replacing them then we shoulder blame too.
In the end he seems happy to leave and us happy for him to leave.
The club has made some big changes, deliberately and hopefully for the better. They have a new Psych in place now but appointed later in they year and extra funds for player welfare next year. All of this identified because of the problems that existed. I appreciate two sides to a styThe direct player welfare guy whos name I wont mention, was the person who was the conduit between families, player and club. He arranged houses for rent, helped them buy cars, made the call to Dads when their son was KO'd etc etc. I can assure you he has been moved on and his former boss gone too. These people were much liked by all players and families. These are all changes that were identified as required to take the club where it needs to go.
Yeah I’m quite happy with the loyalty I’ve shown in all facets of my life till this point. It’s the building block of how I conduct myself and my choices.
My rant as you call it is a succinct summary of the current situation in the VFL and it’s destroying it’s own lofty ambitions of growth.
McLachlan needs to sort it out.

You and I are worlds apart on this. I just continue to be very disappointed in the pathway Jack Scrimshaw is headed down as Wednesday approaches and you just think it’s all good.
Bods I dont think its all good...I think its really disappointing to be honest. When I first heard of talk of coming home I rang his agent and him and did what our (assuming its our) generation would do...Harden up mate was the key catch phrase. But after understanding all the dimensions and details, a move back home really would develop him better as a player and be better for the Suns if they trade smart.

The biggest thing you arent considering is the salary cap space it gives back to the Suns to better structure their side next year. Despite what others suggest, that is the reason they are OK with the idea of Scrim returning home.

This morning I attended the PWC Connors breakfast and heard a panel of 8 list managers all talk about clubs becoming more mature about trades. Its easy to get emotional about loyalty and wanting to retain a player but not considered when attempting to get a player and what that does to the other club and their supporters. If you are honest I think you would agree that you would be the first one to be excited if the Suns were able to pinch a superstar. Do you reckon the Cats fans were happy when Ablett went to the Suns for example? Any chance you were happy about that? Was Ablett loyal to Geelong then? Now?

Bods our era is over, loyalty to a club is a different thing today. These players are elite professional athletes who run faster, are exposed to more scrutiny via social media, ie get more pressure to perform, cant be seen having a beer, strict diets, go home every day exhausted, way more than we ever did, cant
go out after midnight, have to turn their back on mates who might influence them down the wrong path...the list goes on. The sacrifices are enormous compared to our day.

They are tough well before they get to an AFL club if you understand the pathway to the draft. Sooky bedwetters? Nahh ahh!

Anyway Ive loved the Suns forum but wont bang on about Scrim any longer. I came here basically to set people straight with some facts and provide some insights to consider. Of course I hate to see my sons name trashed, father or not if you know the kid, he doesnt deserve that.

BTW, sat next to Jake Stringers Dad at the breakfast this morning, you are right! Theres always someone worse off that you! He was telling me what he copped last year...unreal!

Surely Hall is more than 68

Even 68 plus next year North 3rd round for Gc 4th round.. probably only about 10 picks different

GC not going to use pick 68 please send him to the draft ,I don't care he registered one or both draft ( ND Draft /Pre season Draft), let Hall wait until second day of the draft .

All the best for you and your son in the future Gromma, but I won't be wishing the best for Hawthorn.... ever ;) First O'Meara and now this. I hope you now see what the expansion clubs are up against trying to establish themselves in a non-footy state.

He's kind of not though

yeah I get that
When he was essentially blacklisted from one of the worst teams in the competition..cant really ask for more.

Seems a waste.. better off just not having him at our club though.

Gromma I don’t like the way that people who want to throw away the values we all love use the word “mature” to describe their way of thinking.
It’s a gross misuse of the word to justify disloyalty, ruthlessness and a lack of integrity. I’m sure when people hear doing such things as being “mature” I’m sure it helps them justify what they are doing and helps them sleep at night.
I’ve been hearing player and list managers use the word “mature” for a while now. I don’t rate it being used in the context.
Good on you for having an AFL listed son who will always be a top 10 drafted player, you should feel very proud but for us who got excited about him having come here when selected by us and whom contributed incredible salary to him through our memberships/sponsorships and wanted him to stay with us and see through his commitments and be a part of building our club well it’s just nothing but bitter and disappointing to see and hear. It always will be.

68 will probably be used for GHS.
I get that but kind of sending a message that other club can do whatever they want if GC had OCC player . Jack Martin , Callum ah chee next year can all go to other club website before a deal get done .

Assuming we get GHS and lose KK and Scrimshaw.

Joyce - May - Collins
Harbrow - Thompson - Hanley
Weller - Swallow - Bowes
Sexton - Wright - Corbett
Ainsworth - Martin - Young

Witts - Miller - Fiorini

Brodie - Lyons - Miles - Ah Chee
Something like this perhaps.

Liking Bowes and Weller going up and down the wings.

If we have an OK run with injuries, our team looks alright.

Pick 68 for Hall

Wowee
No wonder everyone laughs at us

Whose running this pony club
Gee that's disappointing if true.
Pick 68 for a guy that can get 30+ disposals and kick a goal or 2 a game.

In the other hand if we can turn that pick into someone like horlin-smith or someone else that wants to play for our club and is happy to buy in and play a role the coaches ask them to without cracking the s**** like hall did would make the deal feel a little better

Don’t think we’re into Gibbons or Grigg, but I think we are a lock for Pickett from the WAFL which should give our midfield a boost

Would prefer Grigg over GHS though - would bring more leadership and would be chomping at the opportunity to get a go in the afl. I'll second Pickett too. That being said, is two more mature players too many?

Hall was a team cancer and needed to be cut out.

I'm interested in why you think Grigg would bring more leadership?

A bloke that left the AFL because he couldn't handle the rigours of the lifestyle and dropped a level down (and played really well mind you)

Grigg look like another Holman . Sometime players need to go to another path to mature and come back to the system . Leadership is not AFL listed players playing in VFL that never face hardship in their career.
