A premiership mid?????

Dew needs to get us to stop 100 point bashings first
Spot on. No point planning for premierships now when we finish so low every year that our best players repeatedly want to leave through a lack of hope. Just becomes an endless cycle. Aim to get competitive first. A gradual turnover rather than a complete list flip. How many more years down the bottom before Jack Martin has had enough, or Will Brodie says buggar this? Now these kids are just going to be walk upstarts for games rather than having to earn them over a decent senior player like Lyons. Only positive me thinks is that Marlion Pickett must be a target in the draft. We can’t just add another 6 kids to the list.... or can we?

If a contracted player wants to leave, you trade him. You don't delist him.
I don't think he is contracted , people presumed he is contracted but I doubt it . There is no weblink that said his contrwct length .

I'm certainly not saying it was done as best as it could have been. I have no peripheral knowledge about what happened. Perhaps he didn't tell us this news until after trade week? Perhaps we approached him about an extension and he told us then? Or perhaps the Lions didn't have the list spots at the time? Maybe he didn't make the decision until recently?

Ideally yes, I agree with you. But for whatever reason it just didn't play out like that.
If a player gives you inadequate time to arrange a trade, you keep them until their contract runs out. You're not obligated to trade them. If Lyons told the Suns he was bailing at the end of 2019, the smart thing to to do is play him in the reserves and as a depth player in case of emergencies. Letting him walk out the door for nothing is just plain stupid, unless there is more to this story than meets the eye like maybe off field issues.

Irrelevant. Even if he's not under contract, he would still have had trade currency. He's not a Free Agent.

I think a lot been discussed during the swap pick deal between Brisbane and GC Suns .

Yay just what we need another friend or family member flooding our board.
and they NEVER have an axe to grind
I was ambivalent about Dew when he came on board because I didnt really see the need to axe Rocket
I'm really warming to him now
The guy is Big Picture and obviously goes whack when he needs to

This is the closest I can figure out what our list looks like now. Basically, there are have been 15 spots cleared on the Senior List, with Darcy's Rookie upgrade and 7 new recruits leaving 7 Senior list spots. There are is a week of delisted free agency starting tomorrow. I don't think our business for the week is done yet. Watch this space.

I have to say I quite enjoy meltdowns here :-) I suggest to give Dew and new management next 2 years and see how we go before jumping the ship. Lyons is not A player, looks like he did not play a role Dew wanted him. He is slow, not great in defending, not a lot of pressure. Would he join Lions next year? Surely Miles, GHS can play similar role if needed. Time for Brodie, Ainsworth, Bowes, Miller to shine.

Worth reminding too that Lyons did not finish top 10 in the BnF. Him playing also didn't help us when we were getting belted by 100 points. As in, we still got belted by 100 with him in the team.

It's still not easy to process. I really loved J.L. It's going to suck watching him at the Lions. At the very least this should open up a spot for Bowes to play more mid minutes.

Leslie should end up on rookie list.

Tom Morris‏ @tommorris32
In addition, this was not driven by Gold Coast and Lyons was not shopped around during the trade period. No ill feeling whatsoever. Brisbane have done well.
So part of the deal to get their first pick then?
So we wanted 5 and accepted 6 and then through in KK, we also gave up 19 to help them get Neale and then give up a 2nd and 3rd as well and the cream is Lyons to make sure they finish higher on the ladder and devalue our own trade, yeah sounds like the Suns, give everything and cut our own throats

WTF? Lyons is a massive part of our midfield. This decision is baffling.
Thinks this make it very clear Dew dose not like having players that challenge his opinions on his list.

I am bloody stunned by this decision

I think he will be perfect fit for Lions.

I know your finding the positive Sunny but even if we give the minutes to Bowes surely having a mature ready to go mid as a back up is a no brainer

I think Dew want a clean start , no point having a mature body if they don't buy in with your plan .

Bowes and Brodie are in their third years. They should be ready to start playing heavy midfield minutes. Maybe not every game, but that's where guys like GHS and Miles come in I imagine.

Or someone like Pickett if we go down that road.
