I also know many Saints supporters, including me, who have admitted they've discouraged their kids from following the Saints, or the AFL generally, these days - it's just not worth the crap they have to deal with at school, or the sheer hypocrisy and injustice of the AFL machine, or the misery they have to endure when the Saints lose. all. the. freakin. time. We love our kids too much to do that to them. My kids all follow NBA, MLB and stuff like that, instead, these days.

My dad, who was at the G in 66, will die a Saints supporter. So will I. But Saints support in my family will die with me, I suspect. Gotta break the spiral.
Perservering…….that's a bit sad that people you know have discouraged their kids from being a Saints supporter...…….having said that if you turned over my birth certificate....it would have stamped in red ink on the back:

"you shall be tortured for the rest of yr life"

So far...so good !!!!!!

We've just have to stick fat....it does look grim now....who knows we're we'll be in a few years from now.

Imagine being a Richmond supporter(or Dogs for that matter) for the past 37 years(maybe shave 4 years off that) prior to last season and trying to get the kids to follow the Tigers...at the time I would have said "good luck with that"

My young bloke has a badge of Lonie ffs!
Dark times.
OUCH !!!!!!!

That must be one of the only two Lonie badges that have been sold.

I'm tipping that in the next few years:

JB...Blacres….Gresh …Members.....Coff...Clark.....throw in Bruce if he's still around, will be the ones who generate the excitement for the kids.

I've been trying to convince him that JB is a better Jack but it's a tough sell at the moment

This says a lot about the current situation.
Fitzroy future unless the club genuinely engages youth.
Sir Skid...…...that's why getting back to Moorabbin was so vitally important IMO...….that facility will ensure our future for generations to come.

We'll be fine.

Part of the Roy's many problems was they were no nomadic……..they had no real base.....when I first started following the Saints...the Roy's were based at the Junction oval.....and I think they played at both Victoria Park and Princes Park for periods.

They covered more ground than Burke and Wills.

Seriously! So Riewoldt is fine to play this week wtf, Jake gets two weeks and the campaigner didn't even get concussed.
Thought the same this morning when I saw the headlines.

No real surprise to me tho.

I'm still fuming over the outcome of that.

Hope your right mate.
We have a colorful history but a bright future would be awesome compared to doom and gloom.

Thank goodness we have been forced to play kids of which we seem to have a number who should make it.

And I hope I'm right.....if not...…..

Yr spot on re the kids...… their the only thing that's keeping me going at the moment.

As I posted the other day.....I can't help but wonder who Richo would be playing if all the injuries hadn't started to bite.

I shudder at that thought.

Suspended the player image rather than the action imo.
Stitched up.
Carlisle must feel great about it after being knocked out and paid holdimg the ball against while unconcious.
Fair dinkum, Christiansen must have been on pingers when he made that call.

I still can't get my head around that one.

At the time, I couldn't recall something like that happening before.

Unbelievable !

Thats us unfortunately.
Breaking new ground ... yet again

Also...for me, it typifies what has happened to the club in this "year from hell"

Crazy umpiring decisions....baffling MRP decisions...… injuries piling up on a weekly basis...… incredibly bad/baffling form for most of the season so far.

I mean, how could it possibly get any worse.....I'd better be careful what I say.

It could get worse....we could be being belted by much larger margins every week....which as a mate of mine pointed out at the weekend....we aren't.

Robbo falling over against the Cats.....ironic really as everything has fallen over so far this season.

Fair dinkum, Christiansen must have been on Ambien when he made that call.

I hate trying to discuss this kind of stuff with mates who support the bigger clubs or with those elite players. We havent formed the opinon of being shat on for no reason, its a ****ing reality copping the short end of the stick all the time. It goes back well into the zoning era where the entire competition was unfairly stacked in certain teams favour on purpose.

Sets my teeth on edge.

Less said about the VFL heist at the time which basically handed Hawthorn our SE area right up the peninsula.
Cue Hawthorns dominance throughout the 70's and 80's! All because the so called power clubs at the time Coll,Carl,Rich and Ess all bitched to the league that the Saints had an unfair adv being in the fastest growing area in Melb, so therefore we were becoming unstoppable. lol
So lets give it to the poorly supported bunnies of that time. Fecking Hawthorn! And the rest they say is history.

But i'm not bitter....

You mean like the academies where we get access to African refugees and Indigenous kids in Brighton, Elwood, Sandringham etc. Pretty fertile grounds out there. North Melbourne get Tasmania, most interstate clubs have half their home state, Hawks have the top end and half of Victoria etc.

We literally have a couple of suburbs that you would be hard pressed to find anyone that knew what a falafel was and honestly would call the police if an aboriginal came into heir suburb.

weren't there a bunch of hawthorn players that would have been in our zone like matthews bereton etc.?

Yep. Throw in Don Scott, Kelvin matthews, kelvin moore and a host of other premiership players.
Though eventually because we were then going so crap, they belatedly gave us Ballarat.
Which did include Danny Frawley, Greg Burns and a pretty handy footballer called Tony Lockett.

A saints perth mate reckon hes a star. After he kicked those 2 early goals last week he was all over it. I havent heard from him since.
