Thompson is like a staying racehorse , is no good first up , needs a few runs under his belt to get going .

Yeah I’m perplexed by this as well regarding Barlow , could he be being squeezed out for the likes of Brodie and Bowes ? Still has great footy in him , I’m going to bond uni in the morning to the Neafl so will see how he performs.

Ah Chee and Wigg are out injured and only 1 out of 8 Draftees, Holman, has been given a game. Don't forget Schoenfeld and Lonergan who have been straight up overlooked.

Don't forget he's coming back from a pretty horrendous injury. Doubt he's rushed in for the early rounds. I suspect the Vets may be played sparingly this season if injury and form doesn't correlate. Rosa isn't going to be risked either. In fact, Dew has gone for 24 players even though he could play 26. There's your 2 spots.

Half suns leading 86-1 , totally outclassing broady as expected , it really is the Barlow and Ballard show , both dominant , scrimshaw really came into that quarter took 5 good marks off half back , nutting looks a player , really shows some class , scheer leading the way in the middle , Jaska has a little of the josh Gibson in him , had great timing with his punch

FT suns by 170 pts , Barlow BOG , Ballard tapered off 2nd half , fitness may be his issue atm but we have a player there , scrimshaw dominant 2nd half when he went on ball , not sure if what his drafted as but with his size his almost bont like , nutting also very classy . Young Dawson came into it late , crossley very good up forward kicking 4 .

Goals crossley 4 , Nicholls 3 Ballard 2 scheer 2 rosa 2 Barlow 2 heron 2 spencer 2 Willis schoenfeld

What value is there for either side to be playing here? Playing a NEAFL side is one thing, but a QAFL side?

No competition for GC and oppo far too good for Broadbeach to get anything out of it too.
 
Wondering why Barlow played in that game not the seniors. Hope Dew sees him as best 22.

Interesting point - but who would you take out for Barlow?

Barlow might have a year left in him and we need games into guys like Brodie.

Certainly not an easy job to balance being competitive and winning and developing for the future.

FWIW I agree - I would have Barlow in the 22. I'm hoping that Dew just knows what he gets from Barlow and is slowly ramping him up. Gives as much time as possible to seeing what the kids can offer.

Dewy rates character, consistency and tough players so I'd imagine it is a case of easing him in but you never know.

Was Crossley playing at FF or CHF? Did he ruck much?

Watched him closely this morning especially off the field. Such a leader, great communications with the kids he's all about the team. Very impressive. On the field he was absolutely dominant as well. I think you'll find he'll move into coaching.
 
Don’t forget Barlow’s injuries. If he plays round 1 it’s a bonus. He and Rosa can play if healthy, but are known quantities.

Rotated with Nicholas but mostly forward he's going to be a good one.
Tommy I don't know about he couldn't even dominate against virtually no one but the conditions were average very wet under foot.
