Carlton looked impressive, they have made some serious ground in the off

Watched the training video from Cairns, we look and sound like a team of men at last, saw Hanley training with the lads up in Cairns too on the footage which is good

Not expecting the rug to be pulled this year, we will lose plenty but think we will be seen as a team that can compete and not fall away
I want to believe, but after seven years of getting smashed pillar to post, I genuinely feel sick before every game. It's a 'how much are we going to lose by' mentality. Desperately hope I can start going into games knowing that we're a chance to win.

Tell us more? Is he playing as a forward? Mid? What's his game style? Does he remind you of anyone?

Any other players going well?

Hi all,
I have a whole heap of Official Suns merchandise up for sale on GumTree. All very cheap for the condition they are in. Some things are brand new and still in original packaging, others are used but still in excellent condition.

See my page for details.

Thanks for the info, much appreciated. So are you saying that Clayton got it right? :-) How is doing our other bolter - Ballard?

I doubt he'll play seniors any time soon, especially given this game is against a QAFL side, but good to know he looks above the grade.
On top of that he'll need at least another 5-6 kgs at least. He looks under 70kg. Good skills, but as you said, his opponents were not only QAFL, there were a few 2nds players plodding around. Still, can see a lot of potential with him in the years to come.

One who is ready is Brody. Bit of a hack it forward type at times, but will be that inside grunt mid you need. Crossley looked good in the ruck (opposition though helped there too). Sheer showed good hands up forward late, but feel he needs to be building a tank for a mid role with his height and good inside work like Brody.

But not sure you can take much from the game considering the opposition.... except a run around training type run for the boys.

I believe he's put on 5k this summer which puts him up to 73kg as seen in this article: https://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.a...n/news-story/88eee5a8bd27b78a09c36ab7109fb07f

But he'll need more. He'll never be huge. Similar to Jack Martin build.

Numbers get thrown around all the time by different sources... I'm going what I saw 10m in front of me. He's 185cm. He needs 5-6 kgs minimum imo.
I'm not disagreeing with you. In fact I agreed with you completely. I think he'll need another 10.

Will Powell was good today, has some silky skills, but Charlie Ballard stood out the most for me.

Great set of hands in wet conditions, plenty of run and seem very versatile. Spent time on the wing and up forward. He’s a huge kid, looks key position size but plays like a midfielder with his run. I can see this kid getting a senior debut this year.

Will Brodie (boys calling him Wiz today which I hadn’t heard before) had a heap of it. He’s a contested beast. His kick needs a little more penetration but reads the stoppages beautifully.

Scrimshaw has bulked up. Rotated between back flank and wing. Did some nice things. Looked good on the wing with his attacking kicks into the fwd line. His tank is the only thing holding him back I reckon?

Had to giggle with 3 of our 4 emergencies all playing at Bond today (Nicholls, Barlow & Brodie). Leslie must be the only traveling emergency.

How’d Barlow go?
Deserve a game next week?
