Let's just get straight into it.

Dangerfield is a lock at M1. Yes or no?

I'm a firm YES.

As some wise owl posted somewhere that i read .....that when selecting your team, you have to factor in who's likely to be your (C) options .....so whilst looking at Mids that are good value SC options, i've also considered my (C) options ......so Danger is a lock for me !

its a 50/50 for me atm but im sure i'll end up starting with him, i can see the reasoning on both sides. Not starting with him and hoping he drops 100k could pay off and the extra 100-200k you dont spend on him can turn a rookie into a Bennel or an Omeara type which could net you upwards of 50 ppg and also the job security compared to a rookie, but your obviously going to have to burn a valuable trade at some point to bring hm in, but like you said by not starting Danger your losing the best captain option which could also be atleast 50 ppg.

I'm 99% on yes I will be picking Danger.

Otherwise from Geelong, J. Selwood could be a great POD with everyone focusing on Danger/Ablett.

Also T. Kelly as a rookie.

I'm 50/50 as it's still so early but it's a risk you don't have to take this year.

Plenty of teams feature Danger and still have the 14 starting premos.
Plus if there's enough playing rookies come round 1 you'd be crazy to not start with him and just have an extra playing rookie making you moolah.

If things look dire rookie wise maybe but besides Ablett there's no real reason not to pick him. will most likely finish the top scorer in 2018 and he's durable.

Although he will drop in price, lock him in I say.

Concerned about Ablett taking midfield time off him. And while he put in some amazing performances as a FF last season that scoring is not sustainable.

Even with the C double points there has to be a question mark at his price. If Fyfe looks back to his best we will have another viable C alternative.

Will have to start the season at close to 130 ppg to break even if you select him.

No for me at this stage.

How is it not sustainable? He's still in the prime of his career, Geelong should be around the top4/top8 again, and even if he has a little less midfield time with Ablett coming in he's a great contested mark up forward and finds ways to kick multiple goals, might even kick more with Ablett's precision passing inside 50 to him.

I'm leaning no at this stage.

Here's why..

Started 33K cheaper last year and still dropped to $156K.

Predicting he drops closed to 200-250K, (Ablett has to affect him in some capacity, we're just not sure how much) it's not like we don't have other viable captain options, no reason Dusty can't continue his form.

He had a few freakish performances as a fill in FF last year (like against us). That won't happen with the same frequency again. As good as he is as a Forward (and don't get me wrong he is very good), he will never score at a rate of 130 ppg when he's playing inside the forward 50. Buddy can't do it on a sustained basis, no way Danger does especially as opposition coaches start planning how to counter.

The higher percentage of time spent forward, the more his average will fall.

He only dropped like that cos he busted his ribs vs the Hawks, he really shouldn’t of been playing for a while there.

Had Danger in, Danger out, 15 times already. The side just looks so much better when he is in it. I'll cop the price drop and bank the double (C) 150's he pumps out in the meantime.

I'll pick him. I had a massive issue with thinking I was smart by not starting Docherty last year and trying to squeeze him in at a reduced price later. Danger's 750k for a reason, he'll be locked and loaded come first lockout.

Thoughts on Coniglio?

Great value @ 450k, will see how he goes in pre-season but he's in my team atm
Yes for me. Averaged 106 in 2016, and 2nd game back from injury last year scored 120 to show he still has a decent ceiling. I think with a strong PS he can average 105-110, which you would easily take at M8. Currently sitting at M6, next to Kelly at M4 (I’m going HAM in midfield again this year).
SHHHHHHH!
Oh FFS, the most annoying response in this forum has returned. One player isn’t going to seperate the men from the boys, the entire structure will. This is meant to be one of the most helpful forums on BF, lets keep it that way

Starting with Dangerfield. Even if he drops $100k in price, unless you have a good amount of cash in the kitty it's two trades used up to bring him in.
He's a set & forget .....so his prices changes will be irrelevant

That's not entirely correct. The last thing you want is for your gun player to drop in price and hence be more attainable by others that don't have him. Irrelevant to your team in isolation but relevant in your teams comparative performance against others.

That's one perspective .....the other is that i save a trade bringing Danger in, whilst those waiting for a price drop, burn a trade

I understand that it's only one trade ......but i burn't too many trades last year with this thinking
