and to think people overlooked Sam Butler for this guy...Oh **** me its Jack ****ing Martin.
Spoiler Alert: Jarrad Waite will discover his potential before Jack ****ing Martin.
Can we make a Jack **** ing Martin thread for only those who are silly enough to bring him into their team , so they can be separated from the rest of us?

FMD, Your right! instead of considering young players at teams who lack established top scorers, i should just pick the same team as everyone else. Why separate myself from you and the 17,000 others with the same team instead of finishing in the top 1% yet again.
Lets hold hands and all play together so everyone wins and nobody loses. FMD

The banter and sledging is where all the fun is at in supercoachFirstly, Welcome to Bigfooty, I like seeing a BF newb giving a bit of stick back and you'll fit in well here
Jack Martin is somewhat of an in joke in these parts. Like clock work every year some body prior to Round 1 says he'll will tear up the competition etc and pick him in their team and eventually he never delivers and like clockwork we all hang shit on them at this very moment.
I won't be the last person on this thread to hang shit on you for thinking of picking him, but by all means back your gut.
We are all guilty of group think in these theads at times and we all really want to find a POD who can help us jump ahead of the pack but my suggestion would be maybe to be a little more expansive on why you think he will be a good option.
Was there a run of games you saw last year in which he put up some good numbers? A change of role? Change of coach? The 2017 heat map may not count for much in 2018.
We all love a good argument here and even though it can get heated we all help each other eventually.
If you pick him and he becomes a super premo this year I'll be the first to congratulate you. But FMD if he spuds up again I'll be just as quick in giving it to you
Cheers
TC

Admittedly, Jack Martin is far from being in my team, and for superpremo in 2018 i dont see it. Basically im just curious to what position he will be, if he has DEF or FWD he will go on my watchlist.
With ablett he averaged 77.8 from 14 games. Without ablett (Excluding the 135 to 20 loss to port) he averaged 95.6 from 7 games. This would have been good enough for 6th in DEF and 7th in FWD.
He had scores of 133, 127, 122, 110, 106, 99, 98, 96. 5 of these came from the 8 games without ablett and only 3 came from the 14 games with ablett.
With ablett gone, hall was the only mid to average over 90 last year. Without ablett it looks like martin will be moved from a fwd/back pocket into the midfield, like last season, they lack other options to give bigger midfield roles to. I see Martin and Weller being there 2 best mids. Wellers heat map is all def, he too is on my radar as he should be thrown into midfield.
He throws in awful scores that is undeniable, but who wouldnt when put in the suns forward pocket? Yet still averaged more than an adelaides betts or a GWS smith.
Basically, IF he plays full mid or wing, WILL he average over 95% AND will he have either DEF or FWD status? Thats alot of Ifs, wills, and ands. it would easily be my riskiest pick of 2018 if i go with him with it more likely than not he isnt a premo, but the potential is there so watchlist till he puts up his usual 40s in the jlt matches.
Jack Martins's career to date has been completely butchered by everyone that has coached him. Play him in the guts. That's what he was recruited for in the first place. If he plays there he's definitely on my watchlist. Great post too.The banter and sledging is where all the fun is at in supercoach.

Welcome aboard bruh, great post. He will definitley be one to keep an eye on with more expected midfield time and a new coach. The banter and sledging is where all the fun is at in supercoach.

Conor blakely will be on the radar next year especially if he’s a defender. Avereraged over 100 2nd half of the year taking out injury in his last game.

I just saw this on Facebook and thought it was a trollDocherty did his ACL today

CARLTON has been dealt a terrible pre-season blow, with star defender Sam Docherty rupturing his ACL at a training session on Wednesday.
The All-Australian backman and club best and fairest winner will undergo traditional knee surgery over the coming days, meaning he’s set to miss the entire 2018 AFL season.
Carlton football boss Andrew McKay said the news of Docherty’s injury is “incredibly disappointing for everyone but foremost for Sam.”
“Sam is a total professional and a resilient young man and we know he will face his rehabilitation process with the utmost dedication,” McKay said in a statement.
“As a terrific young leader at our club, Sam will continue to work with the leadership group and assist in the development of our young players both on and off the field.
“While we are incredibly disappointed by the long-term nature of Sam’s injury, it provides an opportunity for our young defenders to continue to train hard over the pre-season to solidify their spot in the backline in Sam’s absence in 2018.”

Marchbank for premo lolDoes this mean Kade Simpson will be relevant again? The blokes old as time itself, but I'd dunno the Carlton defenders very well, who else could take up that rebounding role?
SC wise I agreePretty unfortunate.
Regarding SC though, i think i like it. Free's up $$ and most likely see some more PODs
SC wise I agree
Aside from Laird, defences will be different
