too many mid priced risks for my liking. i'd look at downgrading one to a rookie and upgrading another.
dont know who. it all depends on which premo's you like and where the best rookies are.
Had Kelly in the mids and one of the midpricers as a rookie before I posted this which I’m strongly considering going back to but I guess time will tell

Thanks mate, Lobb is firmly in the picture but I honestly think Hogan will improve with Melbourne’s natural improvement and can see him having a very strong year after last years topsy tervy year. Could be way off the mark though and it’s a big POD I guess so could get burnt but yolo
The only KPF I'll be touching is Budwah, even then it will be when he throws in a stinker or two.

Since I'm new are you able to explain why to me? Only reason I ask is because Buddy, JPK, Dixon, Cameron and a few others all seem to be top 20 forwards going off last years averages and I figure Hogan can have a similar year to some of them. Am I missing something? Or is consistency the issue?

Consistency for me, can always get a KPF cheaper at some stage.

Budwah is diff though, he plays up the ground & has a history of a higher ceiling. Even then you always get him cheaper through the season.

I’m hoping Pittard and or Hanley have made enough dollars to upgrade to a premo/ fallen premo by the time thier bye rolls around

You shouldn't be picking $400k+ players to upgrade them, you're picking them because you believe they will turn into keepers, particulary in defence.

Just some food for thought.

+1.

Back your gut.

Nice team..
Defence, Midfield, Rucks are mint.

Are you confident Menegola isn't going to drop his average with the arrival of Ablett?

Seems like a guy that you could get for 100K cheaper, still think he goes 90-95 but just not sure if he'll average 100 again.

Nah no 'WE'.
Christensen, Bennell, Birch, etc were always well priced..
The JLT and preseason form was always a indicator to pick or not to pick.
But i didn't see Christiansen in any sides till last week?

Nice team, fairly strong on all lines. Not sold on Menegola at that price but that’s just me.

Thoughts on my current team? Gone with a stronger defense due to the rubbish options down back.

Very strong defence.
Lots of Expensive mid-pricers & cheap premos. Think there's some good players in that 500K-600K bracket in the midfield imo.

The selection I noticed was Sicily. Interested in why you selected him as i haven't even thought of him as an option.
Also intrigued by the selection of Heeney.

Going very shallow in the midfield.
Plenty of teams on here rolling 6 premos deep, to only start with 4 would be an enormous risk.
I'm not certain you are really getting enough bang for your buck elsewhere to justify it.
Sicily and Christensen vs another premo mid? Easy question for mine.
The uber-strong defence is certainly an intriguing option. It looks mighty fine, though rolling one of them down to say Birchall could potentially get you another underpriced premo mid like Cripps while still having a very strong starting defence. Food for thought

Sicily’s second half of the year when switched to defense was massive. I can see him averaging 90+ accross the half backline. Was best on in the intra club on Friday.

I went with Heeney hoping for natural improvement. I’m not a fan of the premo forwards this year.

Yeah it’s a risk no doubt although I do believe Sic will be a keeper, just my opinion. If fit, Christensen is too cheap to leave out.

If Birchall was fit I’d have him locked but he won’t play round 1.

At this stage i'm wary of Birchall missing round 1.
Ive got hm in my team atm but will be keeping a close eye on his progress

Ok lads, have at it... Rookies are JLT dependant obviously.View attachment 458554

Overall pretty happy with this version..
Seems to be a similar structure i stick to when creating teams, added an extra mid pricer in defense, will probably look nothing like this once JLT ends.

M6 will most likely be O'Meara/Armitage/Graham.

Critcism/Praise is encouraged! :)

This is going to be a looooong 38 days.

Will also be watching Lycett closely, at $277K could be a steal if he can go 75-85.
Allows M6 to be a premium mid.

Sicily to me seems to have reached his cap SC wise. At that price he's neither underpriced or value.

I don't get the Chistensen hype. Small fwd in a bottom 4 team for close to $270k. Even if he does well he'll barely break $400k.

Overall, I think you're carrying a couple to many injury prone players....... Beams, O'Meara, Fyfe. You can bank at least 6 weeks out between them you'd think.

Sicily transitioned to defence middle of last season.
He averaged 91 in the final 10 games and has now had a full pre season training in that role, BOG in their intra club playing off half back.

Have to disagree with you on that one.

Christensen will be rotating through the mids, where he has averaged high 80's/Low 90's before.
It's not out of the realm of possibilities that he goes 85+

Injury prone players is a valid concern, the O'Meara/Armitage selection will only be for the first 8-10 games of the season, if the selection tanks its an easy downgrade to best rookie.

Fyfe's ceiling is too high to ignore and Beams i'm still debating on.. Could easily be Bont/JPK that slides into that spot.

Midfielder actually - has averaged 97 before plus a couple of years in the high 80s. He is too good a player when fit to be stuck in the forward line.
But after all this time out, surely he would be short of midfielders required aerobic capacity ....i can see him playing predominately forward, at least for the first half of the season

IIRC Christensen was also getting annoyed at training, making bad decisions ......so he is rusty !
