So this Lukocious kid is apparently an absolute lock for pick one with Sam Walsh half a level below then daylight to that next tier again.

WHY THE **** WOULD CARLTON WANT TO TRADE OUT THIS OPPORTUNITY?

Lukocious allows Curnow to play on a 3rd defender whilst Walsh would help aid the depleted Blues midfield.

I just dont get it!
Not quite daylight. Rankine has been seen a few times as in that tier, while Smith and King are just in the next tier down, where it wouldn't be surprising if one of them was picked in the top 3. Then there is quite a big jump. Taylor, M. King, Thomas, Caldwell and Hill are all clearly first rounders.

Anyway, Carlton could trade for Brisbane's first rounder, currently #3 (Rankine) and their second rounder, currently pick #21

Cant see the players that i have highlighted on your list in 3 years time
Phillips/Casboult - Both retired or Delisted
Kerr and Silvagni are way too slow and dont have elite traits and are average footballers that wont fit into a foward line with Curnow,McKay & Lukocious
That's still three players. Weitering and Rowe can move forward if necessary, while Ben Silvagni will come in for a depth of defense.

North have St Kilda's, currently 40
Bolton had another great game today in the VFL playing midfield, Cant see Tigers letting him go unless a great deal , He is showing that he will be an exceptional player when he gets his fitness upto afl level.
Kid is special and has not even turned 20 years old yet if north want him it will cost atleast their 2nd rounder but i would rather keep Bolton than get a #20 for him.

Should honestly consider trying to lure 2 gun midfielders around Cripps’ age with their next two first rounders.

To recent examples if they hadn’t signed on, Josh Kelly and Ollie Wines.

I actually rate some of the tall backs and forwards they have, so throw in two elite mids to join cripps and the entire side starts to look better.
We will likely pick up a GWS midfielder next year since they are all out of contract. Probably Sheil, maybe Kelly

This seems to be a common opinion by alot of Carlton supporters but can i ask WHY would Shiel & Kelly want to go to Carlton

These 2 boys will have every melbourne based team in their ears and if they want to win a flag they will not be coming to Carlton as the blues look to be atleast 4-5 years away

Unless Carlton wants to pay them more than any other club which i doubt

Suns fans out there. If you guys lose Lynch would you be up for the following trade:

Saints: Bruce and Weller for 2018 WCE 1st round pick (currently 16). Saints also agree to pay for Bruce's entire remaining contracted salary.

Suns get a ready made 35-45 goal per season key forward and frees up your cap to pay more to your talented young core.

Even if Lynch goes, the Suns still have Day and Wright, and this Crossley looks a likely type as well.

Would they even want Bruce instead of getting games into those guys?

Ask Lang, Kennedy and Lobbe

What about for an exchange of first and second rounders

Ask Lang, Kennedy and Lobbe
LOL Lang was discarded by cats and Lobbe is just a salary dump and will be delisted kennedy was the player that was sacrificed for cap space
None of the players you mentioned had clubs chasing them and are a fair few cogs lower than Kelly & Shiel

All 3 you mentioned were struggling to get games at their previous clubs

Ah, but two of them, Kennedy and Lang, initially requested the trade to Carlton specifically, and Lobbe still didn't mind, did he? Even if the clubs wanted to get rid of them, they also wanted to move

Didn’t they want to move to Carlton because they thought opportunities where there for them. Kelly and Shiel are in a different boat.

Would north trade its 1st for Collingwood s 1st and second so Collingwood can get a player before a bid on Quaynor and north have more points in general.

Don't think so , they can use future pick for that . Especially if they finish Top 4.

Carlton #1 for Adelaide's 1st round, Melbourne's 1st round (owned by Adelaide) and Adelaide's 4th rounder

Adelaide would take that so fast your head would still be spinning when you got sacked for making such a crap deal.

Curnow, Silvagni, Kerr, McKay, Casboult, De Koning (2nd ruck)/Phillips (2nd Ruck).
We will pick Ben with our 5th rounder as a Key Defender

Lukosius is leagues better than all those names bar Curnow.

Ben with your 5th rounder? Ben who? Ben from div 7 local league?

Ask Lang, Kennedy and Lobbe

Hahahahhahahah

That’s like me saying LeBron might come play in my social basketball team because my mum says we are real good. What are you 12?

Port offered melb picks 8+9 for pick 2 when melb had picks 1+2 and melb knocked it back immediately.

That wasn’t even a draft like this one.

The idea Carlton will give up pick 1 for anything less than a complete double fist to the seeking team is stupid.

Tyruddanaut must be the only BF poster, or possibly AFL fan ever, that does the horribly unbalanced trades in the other team's favour.

As things stand, Adelaide has 8,13 & 19. That would be the starting point, and if anything Adelaide would be the ones who needed to sweeten the deal from there.

Given the premium most clubs put on pick 1, I doubt anyone would actually trade for it though (in any year)...The price required to shake it free just wouldn't be worth it. The club letting it go would only do so if 'everyone' could see they were winning the deal.

they probably picked Carlton because it was the vic team with the crappiest list and therefore their best chance to get a game

I see Josh Kelly's name has been brought up a few times. IF Kelly wanted out and to Carlton specifically (for lord knows what reason), pick 1 is the starting point only.\

He is a better player than the last 20 pick 1s barring Riewoldt, Hodge and possibly Deledio or Goddard depending on where you rate those 2.

Sorry, I meant Ben Silvagni, probably should've made that clearer.

And what I'm saying is that we are a destination club for younger players. We are a B-class magnet, and we could real in a few stars with a "rebuild" speech, we were front-runners last year, for Kelly, until North made their million dollar offer

I meant to say a 3rd rounder, and I don't see it as unfair. Most of our best picks, mainly Curnow and Cripps, have been in that medium first round stage. It's more about making our team thicker with talent, not giving it one superstar. Sure, top teams with near complete list want the best available, because they will make the best impact for the team, but for Carlton, we have a few ageing players who will need replacing soon, as well as plenty of spots on game day given to B-class mature-aged players. This trade is all about team needs, and if we need to develop our team with more top youth, rather than sticking one good player, who won't come good in the senior footy for at least half a season, then we should do it.
