He's a big dude but still has pace on him. Great intercept marking, great leap, kept Ben King to one goal when playing on him. From a Draft Central post:

If we don't get a tall with our first pick, which I'm pretty sure we won't, I think he'd be a good use of our pick in the 50s.

Thanks, sounds good. Would he still be there at our pick?

I actually think we'd get him with our pick in the 80s or wherever it is. That depends on whether we'd be using that third pick on a new player, or upgrading a rookie

Im not sure what our '20 draft hand is but if it gets to say late 2nd round and there's a player we're interested in surely we would do next year's 3rd + 51(whatever it is) for a better pick.

I feel we're keeping our cards pretty close to our chest this year. We may well be into one of the kids who slide and Power was pretty adamant about keeping pick 13 throughout the trade period.
Cannot for the life of me see Power trading down after all the trade machinations to keep it. Near certain we will be taking best available when our turn comes

On Weightman, there is a very strong chance of him being picked up before us. Demons and Blues were chasing smaller forwards in the offseason. Hawks haven't really had anyone since Rioli. If no one bids on Green before GWS two picks, or Henry before Fremantles two picks. Our Pick 13 has possibly been bumped back as far as pick 15, which means two less players of the top 15 to choose from.

Finding a buyer for those picks will be the issue. Lots of teams want to move up this years draft but not much incentive to
move down or into next year.

I do think we need a young kpd in this draft to nurture for a couple of years. . Sounds good.

I agree with you that no way Power trades down prior to trade night However, if our primary targets are gone on the night and clubs are throwing offers at us, it would be remiss of us to not even consider them

I know absolutely nothing about the draft.

Weightman any good?? Exactly the type we need. But how good is he?

Thanks all
Weightman mainly played school football for Haileybury College who have an elite football program. He kicked
four goals against the Allies and South Australia at the championships for Vic-Country. He has x-factor, goal
sense and a genuinely sound athletic profile as well as a 21.4 Yo Yo test which is elite for his position. Both
Carlton and Melbourne are sniffing with Carlton currently having first crack after Melbourne pushed back to
pick 10. He did seep higher up the ground in his late games for the stingrays and certainly has the profile
to do so.

Every day of the week clubs would make use of an opportunity to make other clubs consider their position. Also helps that if he is there he does fill a need for us
With the price that clubs are starting to pay to move into the first round of this draft it could simply have been a very shrewd piece of foresight.
Pick 13-15 whatever it is could be a very valuable commodity by draft night.

I would actually be very impressed by Power's nerve if he did hold fast on trading that pick during the trade period simply to trade it at a premium on draft night.

Small marking forward in the vein of Jamie Elliot. I'd rather get a genuine crumbing forward but Weightman is probably the best small forward in this draft year.

Everyone and his dog has done a phantom draft, but I’m wondering if things will go this way:

1. GC: Matt Rowell
2. GC: Noah Anderson
3. Melbourne: Luke Jackson
4. GWS: Hayden Young
5. GWS: Tom Green
6. Sydney: Sam Flanders
7. Adelaide: Lachlan Ash
8. Fremantle: Dylan Stephens
9. Fremantle: Deven Robertson
10. Carlton: Brodie Kemp
11. Fremantle: Liam Henry
12. Melbourne: Kozzie Pickett
13. Hawthorn: Fischer McAsey
14: Port: Caleb Serong

In which case we’d probably be choosing between Weightman (or Pickett if Melbourne goes for Weightman), Bergman, or maybe a surprise like Worrell.

1 Gold Coast - Matthew Rowell
2 Gold Coast - Noah Anderson
3 Melbourne - Luke Jackson
4 GWS - Lachlan Ash
5 GWS - Tom Green
6 Sydney - Sam Flanders
7 Adelaide - Fischer McAsey
8 Fremantle - Hayden Young
9 Fremantle - Deven Robertson
10 Carlton - Dylan Stephens
11 Fremantle - Liam Henry
12 Melbourne - Cody Weightman
13 Hawthorn - Brodie Kemp
14 Port Adelaide - Caleb Serong
15 Western Bulldogs - Miles Bergman
