List Mgmt. 2019 Draft/Trade/FA Thread - Final Wrap

The Suns are expected to demand a first-round draft pick for Martin, having nurtured him through his key development years as they look to continue their list rebuild with Callum Ah-Chee also departing with the Brisbane Lions interested in the small forward.

Pick 8 for Martin and pick 19 ( from lions for Achee)

Even writing it makes me angry when we gave up pick 8 for Callum and pick 2 via the GWS mini draft for Martin but I think that’s the best deal we could hope for

Probably a bullet dodged there (sort of), and that's how fickle the draft can be. Even as recent as 2012 the whole 1st round I would say only 50% are genuine footballers because the rest have been delisted.

you clearly dont watch carlton games and thats fine, he's completely rejuvenated him self as a player this year, took 9 intercept marks not long ago an equal record high

I have watched Carlton games. He is a great mark but his kicking is as good as a person with hands for feet. A few good games don’t make up for years of disappointment. Major pass for me. Prefer Stuart Dew lacing up the boots again before Shitbolt

I would rather get a late second pick /early third for Ricardi then casboult, by the time casboult fit into GCS system he is 33 years old and there is no coaching jobs available because it already taken by burgoyne.

For me the most ideal trade is pick 8 and 39 for Brisbane first and pick 52. Carlton has a select number of decent players and they are untouchable.

I think that makes sense. If we are going to pick up another kid we better make sure he is a jet.

Either use 39 in a trade for a Crows player trade or swap it for a future 2nd Rd pick in the 2020 draft (which is considered to be both a poorer quality and compromised with academy & F/S) to use as points for Davies.

If we can do what you mentioned and get a PP we could have 1,2,9 for drafting top end talent. That’s Rowell, Anderson, Gould. I wouldn’t care if we then only had a late pick in the 70s for Budarick. All the picks in the 2nd and 3rd Round we use on mature talent

If we stick to our guns and demand #8 the Blues have a the following options:

1. Walk away
2. Get Martin to go in ND and use pick 8 to draft him (an overpay since we would potentially give up the Lions pick in the deal)
3. Get Martin to go to PSD and hope he gets past us and the Demons (not exactly the way Martin would want this to play out)

Wow Mark Stevens needs to put down the pipe, suggesting a second round pick for Martin is an utter disgrace and joke!!! What a clown!! How long do we need to keep putting up with this shit for? If Carlton aren’t prepared to lay a first round pick on the table then there are at least 3 other vic clubs interested we will take him to market and get a first round pick for him!

There is no doubt we would be asking for pick 8 straight up but I see option 2 the best for both teams

Whateley shitcanned Martin tonight as a player as well, it was said the Dogs were into him for 600 a year for 5

EDDIE BETTS

Carlton are spending the week going into due diligence as they chase an array of small forwards. There seems no doubt Betts wants to play at Carlton. But they ain’t paying his wage — upwards of $500,000 but not as high as the $600,000 reported. Neither will the Crows pay a portion of his wage for him to run around in rival colours. So if he is at Carlton he will take a sizeable pay cut.

Gold Coast makes more sense financially on a two-year deal but there is little clarity on his future other than it won’t be at the Crows.

SHAUN BURGOYNE

Will be hard to knock back a four-year offer from Gold Coast to join them in a Luke Hodge-type role from 2020. The Hawks would love to keep Burgoyne but need to make changes to lower the age profile of their list. Burgoyne has a young family, but the long-term contract offer up north is a juicy carrot.

BRANDON ELLIS

Gold Coast is entertaining a four or five-year deal to land the Richmond premiership defender. As a free agent, the Suns don’t have to give away anything at the trade table for him. Carlton has pulled out of the race after making a strong play for him earlier in the year. The Tigers are managing a tight salary cap and could secure a second-round pick as free agency compensation.

CALLUM AH CHEE

Will go to Brisbane and while he is a former No. 8 in the 2015 national draft he has battled with various issues and there is a concession it won’t be for a high pick. Suns have supported him strongly but are aware he needs a fresh start.

ZAC SMITH

The former Gold Coast ruckman is the only one of the Cats rucks out of contract and could look to head home. If that’s the case the Suns would be interested, but first have to work out what they will do with Tom Nicholls.

I wouldn't be surprised if Brisbane trades our first two picks to Carlton for pick 8 (9).

That gives Carlton a first round pick to trade for Martin, and a pick to take to the draft. Brisbane hope either Will Gould or Lachie Ash get through to pick 9.

That leaves our own second round pick, likely to land between 30 and 33, to trade for Ah Chee.

Carlton may be prepared to offer next year's 1st round draft pick & back themselves to rise up the ladder. Personally I'm sick of throwing away our most talented players for draft picks. I want some decent mature players, but maybe we can trade those draft picks for someone who is ready to play straight away.

I think GC can play hardball with Carlton and Brisbane, the worse thing carlton use pick 8 on Martin and Collingwood first round pick on Ah chee, after AFL give GC pick 2 priority pick. I would rather used Brisbane first Rd pick on Ah chee than pick 14-16 on new kid. Tell Carlton if they trade pick 8 to Brisbane or Eagles, Martin go ND draft.

GCS can't forever rebuild with future pick. You need to pick mature age type in the draft, Liam Ryan, w. Rioli, Tim Kelly, sterwart,if nobody want to come. Corbett, Collins and Burgess all KPP or third tall, try to pick mid, small forward and HB ( Saad type).

I prefer you idea that let martin go to ND draft and see he last until pick 8. If everybody don't rate Martin GC can pick him up again with Brisbane pick.

You do realise Martin has to agree to any deal you make with a club.

He will end up at Carlton, and pick 8 definitely will not be involved.

Next years first is more chance.

So you want to use a first round pick on a player that played for you this year?

He wouldn’t end up in the ND, it would be Pre Season anyway.

next years first? how exactly is that gonna help the suns NOW? Maybe next years first, plus 2nd rounder. But suns will be trying for first round pick.

This years first ain’t helping the suns now either. Have you seen this draft?

Suns need players that are ready to go not picks.

I was just mentioning that Carlton are definitely not using this years first on Martin as it will go elsewhere.

And Martin is not worth a first and second round pick like you suggested.

Let him go to ND draft, you can draft him using your second Rd. Don't even need to deal with GCS, if everybody think he only worth second Rd pick, he will last until your second Rd pick. Why waste time doind trade, GCS not going to use your second Rd pick. Zac Fisher and SPs ready to Go.

I didn’t mention once that he was not worth a second round pick.

Obviously didn’t read my posts.

You mention he didn't worth first round right, so he should last until your second round, didn't even read my post.
