List Mgmt. 2019 Draft/Trade/FA Thread - Final Wrap

The feeling among rival club recruiters is the AFL will officially announce the ‘assistance’ package next week — a view shared by Herald Sun reporter Michael Warner — with Gold Coast to be given a priority pick at the top of the draft.

“Yesterday the AFL commission met and in secret they’ve awarded them the first two picks in the draft,” Warner said on Macquarie Sports Radio on Tuesday.

“I’ve been told they are trying to keep it under wraps next Monday morning when the player exchange feeding frenzy starts and it gets lost in the wash there. But the decision has been made. Most people are telling me they think they are getting Pick 1 and 2 in the draft. Again it’s another compromised draft.”

GC should, imo, be gunning for both the Crouch brothers, Jenkins and Greenwood.
Yes to Greenwood, no to Jenkins and only one Crouch. Suns actually got a number of young midfielders that Suns needs to play, are approaching 50 games and should start to deliver (Fiorini, Bowes, Brodie, Ainsworth, Macpherson). Add Swallow, Miller, Miles. Rowell will play most probably round 1.

I would be happy to put our 2020 first rounder up for sale for the highest bidder if it can bring us great experience.

Agree.. have to stop going to the draft at some stage and get those early picks out for experience

Dick Warner is such a sour puss! Every draft is compromised with the northern and next gen academy’s plus father son..

I don’t understand the next gen academy to be honest it just strengthens the access for already established clubs in Melbourne to talent

If they don’t want to compromise the draft then Ideally the states could run all academy’s funded by the afl

And lets think of his experience. Premiership and finals experience. He is also 25. Also you have to dig a bit deeper to get someone from FA, out of victoria and over the QLD. I don't think its that bad. What was Jack Martin on? $500k?

This here, if Martin was on $500k - $600k and we are paying $600k for Ellis, I see that as an improvement and better value.

If the news about Brad Crouch is indeed true and we were to get Hugh Greenwood I would be looking at giving the crows 3 top 25 picks with the state of this draft... maybe Lions pick 15, then try and trade up into the draft to get two end of first rounders or earlier second rounders. Ideally Rowell, Anderson and Budarick is all we need in the draft
We need small forwards Ace or Gore a are an academy priorities

We need small forwards Ace and Gore are homemade priorities
If the Darwin zone is awarded as has been speculated, that should give Malcolm Rosas to the Suns too. Rankine, Rosas and whoever makes it to the big time between Ace and Gore solves small forward for the foreseeable future.

And the setting up of our Club wasn't compromised you DH!
Apparently not, we got about 9 first rounders just out of high school that were going to deliver multiple premierships. Conveniently forgotten is the fact that existing clubs each had approximately 10 first rounders already on their lists in varying stages of development.
