If this is true, Weller is proving to be worth more than the pick 2 we paid.

A plan from the Big Coch and co, all along! Even Clayton may have been on to it in an attempt to weaken his 'soon to be new teams' arch rival!

Jake Niall has said on the Ages podcast that Carlton offered there future 1st pick for Martin last year but Martin didn't want to join them

Martin for Rowell. Damn.
Well I can understand Jack's position on this.

Carlton must have REALLY overestimated how good they were going to be this year if that’s true.

On paper I don't blame them.

They've got a group of older players that can still be influencial
- Kruezer, Simpson, Murphy, Jones, Thomas, Ed Curnow = ~1200 games of experience

24 - 28 year olds
- Docherty (don't know timing of his knee injury), Cripps, Plowman, Newman, Mcgovern, Fasolo

21 - 24 year old up and comers who have all played 40+ games
- Weitering, Fisher, SPS, Charlie Curnow, Machbank, Silvagni, Lang

Gun young talent - 1st round (and mostly top 5) picks
- Walsh, Stocker, McKay, Setterfield, Dow, Pickett

Have just listed 25 players.. you think they could have won a few games as a team with the best 22 of the above.

I see that Callum Ah Chee is out of contract come seasons end. Highly rated junior, but hasn’t really kicked on at AFL level. Is this due to form or injury? and how much do you guys think he’s worth in a trade? Cheers

Started as a forward with Eade - in his second season had 10 goals in 3 weeks against good teams, and then 20 possessions, 6 marks, 5 tackles the week after.

Dew has been playing him down back - maybe he is being groomed as a Jarryd Harbrow retirement replacement as he has the physical attributes to play on pacy smalls.

Injured to start the year this year but now played a couple of NEAFL games and looked a class above.

I suspect bit of a victim of being moved around. Most of us would prefer him in the forward line.

Think he'll be in the team soon enough.

With Rowell and Anderson clear number 1-2 and long history of playing together school etc.
And our desperate need for more midfielders. I’m not 100% against giving up something to try and get pick 1/2 in the draft and bring them both the the Gold Coast.

Adelaide will ask for lukosius / rankine which is rather not do.

If we could give up jack martin and Gold Coast 2020 first rounder for Carlton’s 2019 first rounder I’d do it.

If Adelaide happens to land Pick 1. Would the Suns entertain a trade for Lukosius and Rankine?

Have either of these two players signed contract extensions?

The interesting issue that the Suns should possible at least consider, is that if either Lukosius and or Rankine are problems to retain and the Suns look to trade them, this would be the year to do it to land Pick 1, especially if Suns have Pick 2. I cant imagine either Crows or Port having a pick as good as Pick 1 for at least the next 3 years.

This is the year you would get the most value for a 1st rounder for either Lukosius and or Rankine.

It would be a lock for both Rowell and Anderson.

Interesting and tough situation for all parties I would assume.

Don't know about others, but I wouldn't be trading pick 1 for both Lukosius and Rankine.

If it came out that 1 wanted out at the end of the year, then you cross that bridge when you get there, but we can't keep flipping top talent for more draft picks.

No contract extensions signed yet, but the lads look happy and positive to be at the club when speaking and in behind the scenes footage so I am assuming they stay on at the moment, but things change.

Though just FYI, you probably aren't going to get mostly positive responses from the folks on this board, most are sick of other team supporters coming over here and picking through our teams list.

This is why the AFL at times completely pisses me off and makes me think why bother following it, just stick with NRL.

The sickening self-entitlement of the AFL states supporters even when masked with politeness which I credit this writer with having makes me think the AFL is it’s own biggest enemy to growing the game.

Thanks I appreciate that. Just a polite enquiry.

Lets also remember the question asked was based on Crows getting Pick 1, which would be the best pick the Suns ever got for losing a player. Not to mention also it gives you both Anderson and Rowell assuming you have Pick 2.

Im sure there has been offensive trades made in here for your players by Vic posters, severely undervaluing them.

I think for starters Suns should have priority access to all Queensland players no matter what and when they are drafted.

I agree its crap.

Just look how the Crows have been bled out by other Clubs. The players that left would form the core of premiership side.

Yeah, but then what happens when a Vic team comes after Anderson and Rowell, and we get offered a high pick for them? It is just a cycle that means all we do is develop players for other teams. We need to break the cycle and keep hold of as many players as possible. If the lads want to stick around and are happy, then I want to keep them about, especially after putting a lot of money and resources into their development.

We will most likely have pick 2 and around pick 10 this season. Which means we could pick up Anderson and another team mate of his later in the draft. There are many ways the cake can be sliced by years end. Will have a better picture once October 1 rolls around.

Also, I know it is a polite inquiry, I actually don't mind the polite chat with others about this sort of stuff. Others on here don't feel the same however :)
