Interesting point.... have you changed your mind on Robertson ? No doubt the talent this year is not as developed or as obvious.

To me the logic of P2 for Martin says that should be enough.. perhaps some icing.. yet as you mention the draft this year may means P2 for Martin and P14-P18 may still struggle to get the deal done..
One advanatge in trying to get the deal done is Melb have had several early picks and they are aware of how the pick can tease but can fall short. Maybe Anderson is better than those picks .. but I think Melb do need to strike back hard ..just how much can Anderson give them in 2020? On the other hand... they did trade out the pick that could have gotten them Josh Kelly... would they do that again..

Does Kemp slip now he has done his knee..?
Kemp probably still top 10, shown enough this year

In the grand scheme of it the only team that would feel slighted if we got the priority pick is the team with pick 2 as there is no clear cut pecking order after that.

Edit: I wonder if the AFL would consider giving us the PP at 1 or 2 in exchange for taking our Lions pick from us. Certainly an upgrade that would help with retention in an area we need it.

Previously each club has complained about being pushed back one pick when early picks were added..Priority Pick or compensation picks .. same affect... so id say it would be more than just Melb who would be negative about it. Its why I think its should not be about a one off pick but a full on push to make the draft fairer for all the bottom sides. It may not happen this year ..but pushing for that which make it better for any side that has been out of finals for a 3-5 year period ..Id say it would eventually gain traction.. and the next time a club is needing assistance one can point to what the Gold Coast position is on it.
As it stands , Id say the afl will try look at other alternatives before allocating a R1 priority Pick

IMO is risky look at Max king and cockatoo.

Its risky ..yes but players can do a knee the first training session post the draft.

Id separate Cockatoo .. his form pre draft was far less exposed ... Now that was a risk . Geelongs ealiest pick in 12 years .. and he still has time ..but atpit is Wells worst pick in 10-15 years .. probably since Tenace.

Max King .. different again ..but probably more similar to Kemp.

No doubt .. investigation is required... knees now are not as scary as decades ago. Id say it will be more important to base it on need for his type. The games you have got out of Luk and BKing have been a bonus.. but really most of the time in their first year draftees should speed little time in the afl side.. so its probably not going to affect his value to you at all.

Good negotiation skills, Start super high and end up mid way.

A club like GCS don't need much to gain/attract VIC media attention if the risky first round pick don't pay off. Know your weakness and capabilities, you don't want your injuries group end up the same as your starting best 11.

Sounds like a Vic media beat up to maintain the outrage to me

I haven’t really changed my view on Robertson. I’m not sure he’s much better than what you have on your list now.

Especially if you draft Rowell and pair him with Brodie inside. Neither are fast, and adding Robertson makes for a slow midfield.

You need some speed in that midfield.

There is probably on 4-5 players in the draft better them on exposed form so i doubt he slips
Kemp had a bog ordinary season in the NAB league before the U18 carnival.

And he really only showed how good he could be in the last two games for Vic Country, after playing in defence in the first two games.

If you’re going to talk exposed form, Kemp actually has very little high end exposed form.

I believe the best outcome for Gold Coast is for Melbourne to finish 17th and for Carlton to finish outside the bottom two.

Melbourne don’t really need another mid. What they really need is outside run, which they can get with either Hayden Young or Lachlan Ash.

But in a draft that is viewed as only having two top talents, they’d cop a far amount of flack if they didn’t pick Anderson (if the Suns go Rowell at 1).

Plus, Carlton finishing outside the bottom two, lessens the backlash from the Crows about being screwed out of a top talent due to their pick trade with Carlton.

He played well in every game in the champs I think despite being played almost as a KPD for Metro in the first 2 games. Champs are the best measure of games as it’s the best of the best. The only players ahead of him at this stage would be Anderson, Rowell, Green, Ash and maybe there is an argument for Young and Serong

Watch out for Gould and Taheny next year in AFL. Rozee had a ordinary championship last year.

Gould should be able to play from round 1 but I’m not sure if he has a huge amount of improvement left in him. Taheny is to much of a tease, I don’t think he will ever be more then a Menzel type
Gould is like Eagles Hurn, I don't think you need any more improvement , we sometime overthink thing IN AFL regarding huge amount of improvement , Taheny is my Sydney stack last year.

Yeah, Kemp played for Vic Country.
