If Evans can ink the Burgoyne deal straight up as is reported it will set the tone for us for the rest of the trade period and certainly will influence anyone who is still deciding whether to come to us, hoping they can get it done and announced ASAP

Wonder when our delistings are published, I thought last year they started announcing them straight after the last round was done?

They may start to trickle through, their exit meetings will be this week.

Martin joins the list of bedwetters to be despised and boo’d.
You either fight fight fight or you GAGF out of our beautiful community and take the weak pathway.

We will see if he’s the first one ever to be a person of integrity and nominate a state rather than an individual club.
Did May request Melbourne?
Wow those 2 years at Grammar must have burned bright for him lel

A few reports this morning about Burgoyne to the suns on a 3 yr playing and coaching setup is guaranteed and already agreed to by all parties. I think this will be the first piece of the puzzle of the hawthorn injection to the suns this off season.

3 years for Burgoyne awesome he can celebrate his 50th up here

When was the last time a player requested a state? Usually unless you have a reason to go back to a certain club (aka Beams) most are courted by a number of clubs and make up their mind which to go to. Then its the clubs to work out a deal.

Probably never. My point is that it would show that the persons reasons for leaving are genuine rather than just chasing easy success.
It would be what a person of honour would do in order to say thanks to his club he is leaving.

But since the bedwetters don’t have any honour it should be an AFL rule. You get to only nominate a state not an individual club.
Nominating individual clubs destroys the bargaining power of us clubs down the bottom that these weaklings run away from.

I do get your point, I've just never seen it happen like that before. When players leave for whatever reason, they seem to nominate a club that best fits them, or for whatever reason. Obviously there is discussion between the time its announced and when it gets done, so that both parties come to a discussion that a deal can be made.

Bringing in old guys on multi year deals who are looking for a superannuation boost is IMO a massive mistake

I know we need leadership but when it’s out Martin and Achee for old man Burgoyne the sum is a massive net loss. He has 1 year in him at best, when he has to chase as our skills aren’t up to it his age will be exposed
Call me negative but book mark this post. The future will dictate if I am a prophet or peanut

On exposed form, Burgoyne has more effect on the games he has played this year over Martin and Ah Chee is almost a non factor because he can't get out on the park. At least for next season anyway, I believe it will be a positive for us.

Unfortunetly it isn't like FIFA or Madden where you can chuck a bunch of young players together and watch them develop, they need leadership and experience around them.

He's coming in for a specific purpose.
Leadership and a move into coaching it's not as a list saviour.

I agree with you. This philosophy with the GC NRL teams over the last 30 years has been useless.
We need the best kids and we need to develop and keep them.

Amen - we could just find another GHS or Murdoch and pay them money for SFA.

We could draft a ton of kids and not put any leadership around them, oh wait that's so 2011.

If Burgoyne is cooked he is already signed to coach so the risk is pretty limited in terms of salary cap hit.

We could give Burgoyne's money (if he'd take it) to keep Ah Chee to not play and not provide any leadership.

Someone has to try something so why not.

Hombsch battled manfully but he is classic depth player.

How many players you want play in NEAFl.
Thompson, Collins, Ballard, Hombsh, Burgess, Graham.?

With Thompson Collins all coming back from injuries
The AFL back line could be Thompson, Collins, Ballard,
With Graham, Hombsh, Burgess playing Neafl.. Not yet include King and Luko ( both can play both end) AFL/Neafl
