Get the NAB League App - it is awesome.

You can look him up and see every game he played in the NAB League with his highlights cut up for every possession he has in that game. Each game has around 10 mins if highlights of him.

Probably will make the difference between keeping Rowell in 2 years if his mate doesn't come, which has a knock on effect as to whether Lukosius / King sign on.

If we don't get it it will not be annoying, it will be disastrous.

Was thinking exactly the same thing. Our odds of retaining him will be even slimmer if we don’t get Anderson as well. Need to start winning, packing out Metricon and give these kids some hope a successful future lies with us.

I think back to the Saints in the early 2000s when they had all these kids with Aaron Hamill and when it clicked they became a tour de force with Roo, Kosi, Dal, Goddard, Hayes, Fisher, Montagna all coming through together and destroying teams.

If we can keep these boys together we will have our time.

AFL should look to poach the best high performance team
And recruiters in the country.
Starting with Stephen Wells.

Pay them outside of the Suns cap.

If they Suns can bring in the best talent.
Find gems with later picks or rookie picks ala Geelong.

And look and play like Men.
It will go a long way towards succeeding

Premierships ain’t won by top 10 picks.

It’s the rest of the team/depth that matters

There are reasons why I believe 18 team list managers passed on Pickett in at least 2 drafts and 16 or so in this year mid-season draft. Would you also call them Clayton in disguise? Tigers is established team with a great culture, leaders on top of their powers vs rebuilding team at the bottom with a youngest list still building standards, culture. I would probably not pick him up either. Too risky, media would go nuts if Suns had take chance on him and it did not work out. We did fly him in.

He also entered the mid year draft with a broken finger and was expected to miss 10 weeks. There's every chance we pay him $50,000 for one or 2 NEAFL games and he turns 28 before the pre season. Add into the mix that he has 4 young kids.
On the other side if he played 2-3 great games it would only have been a free audition for Freo or West Coast.

Riordan deserves time. He came straight from a NAB 18s club and without even 1 AFL pre season behind him it would be foolish to say we shouldn't have drafted him.
Cameron's biggest gamble from memory was Ben King at 6....

What annoys me is that the real issue's are not being mentioned and just band aid fixes being asked for by the Suns.

The Suns need to ask the AFL for a significant amount of help and not just accept a PP and move on

* Club needs PP in 2019/2020/2021 to trade for an established under 30 player if not available can use in the draft
* Club needs extra 4 spots on the main list & 5 spots extra on the Rookie list for 5 years
* Club Needs an extra $1,000,000 on the cap for 5 years
* Club also needs to have the right to select 5 queensland players prelist them prior to the draft

This club cannot be fixed with just 1 x PP

You are a very rare species in Melbourne with your views on Suns.

Why do you think that Suns did not ask for assistance you mentioned? All are the obvious ones for objective observer. Unfortunately, AFL is run by big VFL clubs who don't really care about Suns and prefer to poach players from Suns rather than lose players to Suns. Extra cap is a big no for McLachlan as it would disturb his equalisation joke.

I would add boost Suns footy dept resources to the same level of big VFL clubs, allow 100% or go over soft cap (currently 1M below), boost academy spending (will happen).

How annoyed would everyone be if our PP was end of first round?

That would be pick 19, the pick you "gave away" to Brisbane last trade period.

If the AFL are serious about saving your sinking ship then it has to be pick 1, particularly as that may stop Rowell getting home sick and the cycle continuing forever.
