What do we want or expect?
The only certainties are two Showdowns and St. Kilda in China in early June
We finished 10th, meaning we'll be in the middle tier, along with the other teams who've finished 7th to 12th: Sydney, Geelong, North Melbourne, Essendon and Adelaide, we'll face at least two of these teams twice next year, safe assumption one of them is Adelaide, meaning two Showdowns.
We also play at least one but no more than two return matches against top-six clubs: Richmond, West Coast, Collingwood, Hawthorn, Melbourne and GWS
And also one and no more than two return matches against bottom-six clubs: Fremantle, the Western Bulldogs, St Kilda, Gold Coast, Brisbane and Carlton.
It's Adelaide's turn to host a R1 fixture, and the first Showdown. So it'll most likely be an away game in R1.
Anzac Day is on a Thursday next year, hopefully we'll have the Friday night fixture the night after, against a decent pulling team like Carlton, Geelong, Richmond or Hawthorn, and hopefully we still host Anzac Day because the Crows were trying to make overtures to host it
The only fixture anomalies for Port are that we haven't played St. Kilda in Melbourne since 2013, and that's not happening next year because China, but there's also that we haven't played GWS at Spotless Stadium since 2013, Gold Coast at Cararra since 2016, Richmond away since 2016 and Sydney at home since 2015. Apart from that, we've played every other team home and away in the past two years.
With the pre-season fixture, I think we can safely assume be the event nobody asked for, AFLX, will be in either Perth - probably at NIB Stadium or in Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium or Ballymore, then a game here in Adelaide (out of Norwood Oval, Thebarton Oval, Unley Oval or Richmond Oval, or hopefully Alberton Oval again) or at least in South Australia and probably a game in Western Australia, hopefully it's three proper pre-season games and no pre-season Showdown.
